I appreciate the fact you're bringing back some of the older cars and testing them. How about I come down there with my C5 ZO6 completely stock and we see what it does?!
So jealous. I've got a newer Z06 now, but my 2003 was the "car I never should have sold". ;-) I still say the C5 FRC body is the best-looking Corvette GM designed since the C3. Cheers.
M McBride so true. I promised my son when he was 13 yrs old we’d never sell our new ‘03 Z06 - and today we enjoy it together. We have her at about 470 to the wheels - and it’s close to being the perfect car.
@@myvalium1 I had mine until 2016. It was "slightly" modified (haha) and I blew the engine. Just by dumb luck I had been talking to one of the mechanics at Hennessey online about another project and they offered me $15K for the car as-is. Faced with replacing the LS6 I sold it to them. They ended up cutting me a deal and gave me $20K (on paper) when I found a fully-loaded (3LZ) C6 Z06 at their shop with just under 9K miles on it. The C6 put down 691whp on their dyno so I drove it home. It's still my daily driver. I love it, but that damn 2003! Haha. You get it. Cheers.
I am the owner, driver. We expected the car to hit 205/207, based on the performance of a similar set up 2009 Z06 in December of 2018. On the first 1/2Mile run of the day, the clutch pedal stuck to the floor on the 2nd to third shift and stayed there for a while (clutch master cylinder failure) and the clutch disc got glazed and damaged. The pedal eventually came back but we had no way to repair the car, so we kept running, set an IMRA World Record for the Mile, for a Modified 2011 Z06 at 180.1XX mph. When we got to the 2.7mile Top Speed testing, we hit the 201mph you see in this video on the first run, but the clutch pedal started to act up again and after a few runs we had to retire the car. The car has since had the clutch MS replaced along with a new 1000HP clutch along with other mods which now has it at 600 RWHP. We are intending to head back to the JB Proving Grounds as soon as Johnny announces the next testing in 2021.
Just curious. I've got a 2010 Z06 that I weighed before I started modifying it and it came in at 3,122lbs.. My manual lists the weight as 3,130lbs.. Pretty spot-on. The magnetic ride feature wasn't available until 2011 but everything else should be pretty identical to your car so what's with the (approximately) 130lbs. weight difference? Was that 3,253lbs. after your mods? Great post, by the way. Made me want to head to the track. Cheers.
I've got the same 2011 Z06 sonic blue modified with a donkey dick cam head work as well as headers exhaust work and a few other things, 10K in performance mods but all motor putting 630 to the wheels, its wicked, built by Lethal Performance in San Antonio
@@JohnnyBohmerProvingGroundsSLF I might need glasses. I didn't see a thing on video. 😬 I heard a "tink" sound at 1:23 but didn't see anything. But I believe you sir! 😊👍
@@derjoh1986 It is hard to see, there is a almost bronze/clear spot that appears around the middle of the windshield just to the left of the Garmin speedo, thanks JB

M McBride sounds like you’re doing just fine!! Enjoy!!!
It’ll run out of gear around 168

The LS7 sounds so good.
Soo beautiful! Thanks for the video. That would be a future classic. The last big na engine before the superchargers!
This is my favourite car. Im trying to find one to buy. Looks at 2 last year but they were a bit beat. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for subscribing!!! JB
Happy Birthday Captain Inferno !
This one is more rare as it looks like it has the Z07 package. Beautiful car. I like my C5Z, but love the C6Z.
The C6 is forever the best vette!
Hhmmmm z06 n zr1 yeah, base looks to european
Great cars, really captured my imagination when they came out!
Thank You, JB
Impressive. Most impressive
The power of the LS
That’s my favorite car of all time
Now we're talking about a fast car!
Awesome. Love to see a C6 ZR1 please.
Can you please test a regular ZL1 on the 2.7 Mile course??
Buena velocidad para su año. Felicidades al dueño de tan hermoso auto 👍
Awesome video as usual.
This car is very impressive considering what you can buy one for today.
🙂👍
Outstanding !
Awesome. Car
That's a lot of bang for the buck!
Sweet
Z06 carbon package with Heads and cam = bad ass
Single 106mm turbo

Could be suspension. Could be bigger oil pan, more cooling etc.
Im pretty sure you could have bo lift shifted and used launch control or was that only the 12-13 models
201 mph with 550hp. Not bad.
Not bad at all!
Seems like that gps tac is lagging a bit in the beginning. Should be moving faster than that...
Now do one for the c8 zr1
Awesome. Still want a shot of the car's speedo and tach
Fantastic‼ I would be happy to see the C8 break 200mph.
With LOVE top speed is 194
Its top speed is 194mph/309 kph
can you do a C5 Z06?
Holy .....
Seems a bit lazy for 553 whp..
Yeah my ls3 corvette with 512wrhp seems to accelerate faster? Mine traps 128 in the quater mile
Does that mean my 605whp base Corvette will go 200mph?
Seems like it took an eternity to get there

Anybody heared the bird poop fall on the windshield 1:23
Good eye my man, actually that was a dragonfly, I have hit many!!!... JB

Nut
That cars engine definitely sounded like lightning mcqueens engine from cars Ohhhhhhhhh
Where's the p1 1/2 mile and 1 mile test
Yeah I want a 1/2mi!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 200 with out a blower or cam holy shit.
F12 and F812 top speed plase
We need the half mile
Only 201 mph. It must be the headwind.
Agreed. I had seen Corvettes traveled a littler faster on a little less horsepower here
The stock Z06 does 198mph. So modification only gained meager 3mph.
@Titan Mechanism atw, so more like 100 to 120 bhp
Richard Garriga you don’t know the weather conditions that day the wind and all. If it was a stock car maybe wouldn’t even had reached 190 mph.
It’s not the top speed mostly with added power it’s how fast it gets to its top speed.
Unrelated to the vid.
This guy's voice sounds like
Larry Vickers.
60-130mph is not that great for a 553whp/3253lbs car...
How slow
