    Thank you for this video, I had no idea what I wanted in a relationship, this clarified it.
    What I have always wondered and still have a hard time figuring out what my needs are and how to communicate them without feeling cringe about it. It would have been so better that my partner would read my mind sometimes lol...

    It's never been clear where the line is between what needs you can reasonably expect a partner to meet vs those that should be met by others.

      This should be a clear discussion every couple has.

    It's important to set boundaries early on in a new relationship. For example, I offer the following scenario: Him: "How do you like your eggs in the morning?" Her: "Unfertilized!"

    Easy to see where my problems come from. For a long time, my only "goal" was having parents that cared for me. That's not a goal. Lol
    And then, wow, don't leave. Also not a goal, since they both depend on someone else's whim. Just a wish factory.
    I have principles in mind. I need to get over the first hurdle, and those should become easier to keep after.
    Have something of a "vision". It's half filled in, mostly because of anxieties. I don't think I'm really good at anything, so that detracts a bit too.
    Mutual Acceptance would be nice. I'm always on edge waiting for someone to decide I'm not worth the time.😬
    The fulfillment thing. I don't believe most people care what I need, beyond surface interactions.🤷‍♀️ It makes it difficult to talk to them when you're already braced for a no, and then I have a hard time wanting to meet theirs, beyond the absolute have tos of them "hanging around", because I don't want to get that close without knowing that they care about mine.
    Kind of cat and mouse. If I get to close, they're going to swallow me up, and then you're in the lion's belly. Lol

      Need to define a solid goal that you’re aiming for in life. And then smaller goals that add up to that goal so you can build momentum in that direction.

    Im just tryna get physical affection and connection. Idk why asking for what seems to me to be a logical step to achieve that doesn't show up in the way that I need. I think its better to just let it go and accept how things are showing up and see if that is actually achieving the result of getting my needs met. Rather than asking and asking and not getting what I am asking for.

      Sometimes the issue is the other person not acting in good faith. Other times, they’re not receiving measurable targets they can understand so they’re genuinely confused. Which is it in your case?

    • @vivianvennicia
      @vivianvennicia ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AttachmentAdam Probably the latter.

    • @AttachmentAdam
      @AttachmentAdam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, sounds like you could do some work around making those goals more measurable and less subjective. That's the problem in a lot of cases when you're aiming to experience a feeling but can't articulate what would make you feel that feeling, or if the other person isn't familiar with WHY your goal is important because they've got no comparable experience. Do you know how to make your goals more measurable and less subjective so the other person can understand the why and how better?

    I find the entire idea of having to interact with another person for the rest of my life to be really close to THE definition of hell.

    You mention that it's best to find a woman/partner from your community and I'd agree with that except when you're in your 30's and you date within your community in this modern era, all those women have slept with about 7 of your friends typically (and a lot of times it was just a hook up, potentially where the woman was hoping for more and you're literally taking your buddy's "leftovers"). For me, that's a pill that's extremely tough to swallow. I'm not religious (so therefore would be tough to date a religious woman even if she's more likely to embody values that I care about) and I'm closer to 40 than 30 so wondering if you have any helpful advice (or a helpful video) here? This may be my achilles heel of finding a partner.

      Perhaps dating outside your immediate area? I get the impression those local women are not the sort of women you're looking for anyway, so you can rest assured that you're not 'missing out'. Maybe joining a local organisation that aligns with your values would be a good step, political organisation or religious, even if the values aren't 100% the same as yours. It would be worth a try. Good luck, man. It's tough out there!

      I get exactly what you’re saying, here, and part of this is choosing carefully the community and Netwerk, that you connect to for this problem. Some networks are better than others, and you need to learn how to leverage the right networks to make this work. If you need help, send me an email at support @adamlanesmith.com and let’s talk.
