+WakkoWarner123 me three!!! going on age four, my most favoritest cartoons in the who-o-ole Wide World (kid- speak)were Felix The Cat, Betty Boop, Mighty Mouse(vintage); and there was a local TV station that aired a show on Saturday mornings which showed s lot of assorted cartoons/animations of every sort imaginable. All of these cartoons & animations were more than special in that they sparked and fired my imagination; and, they were remarkable just in the fact that they were evennn aired at all, since we were smack in the middle of the McCarthy era , the mid 1950's!!!
+Tim O' Flea I was relatively young when I watched these cartoons (we had them on VHS tapes), and now that I'm older, I appreciate just how much work and detail was put into them!
WakkoWarner123 Censorship and commercialism killed creative cartoon art, I say. Seems like from the 1950s on, cartoons were churned out by a cartoon factory -- a lame, formulaic cartoon industry driven by advertising revenues.
I loved watching the cartoons from the 30s and 40s,and 50s. We were too poor to afford the Disney movie tapes. We could these types of cartoons at the Family Dollar or Dollar General. My grandma did the best she could when we literally had nothing. I love and miss you so much, I remember everything you've done for us until i get to meet you again.
That's like how my mom and dad were when they were growing up but I didn't think they ever watched this 'cuz my dad watched Popeye the sailor as a kid and IDK what my mom watched as a kid
3:49 I always thought the three-dimensional looking animation on those stairs was pretty impressive, especially since this was nearly half a century before computer graphics came along!
Zombie Rusty Shackleford i remember having this and a bunch of other Van Beuren cartoons on a DVD, it also had 2 others, one had a bunch of Felix the Cat cartoons (which was the one i watched the most) and another one with Betty Boop cartoons on it.
Beautifully animated toon and with lightning and ghosts! Van Beuren only made 3 Felix toons before they closed the studio and these were the first time, I think, Felix was done in color, and full technicolor to boot. Even though Felix did not have a real golden age presence in cartoons, he, like Betty Boop, managed to maintain credible star status. It's a shame more of these weren't made.
I always kind of thought the moral on this one was kind of clever: bravado can be a boon, but don't let it get away from you. King Cole is a braggart, but this is what allows him to face his fear. His constant overdoing it is what pisses the ghosts off, and in Felix helping him, the two both realize how silly claiming to be afraid of nothing is, but understanding why one might claim that in the first place.
I remember being really freaked out by the 'Torture Scene' when I was little, I just remembed it again today and searched it up - still makes me feel weird tho
Yes, me too. I used to watch it again and again as a child since it was on a VHS together with the Three Little Piggies (or whatever they are called in english). Anyway, today I found the VHS and watched it. I didn't remember it at first but then I got a very freaky feeling as if something was wrong. I think this may have traumatized me as a child actually.
My song...you talk too much, you talk too much, you never shut up, you talk too much LoL. Whenever i sang this my little sister always ask where i got it from and i said, that's Felix the Cat where have you been??!! haha!! I miss my childhood!!!
nshaboo101 my mother started singing that I Asked her where it was from and she said Google Felix the cat King something and I did and this is what I came to I got to say this is better than some SpongeBob or whatever I used to watch
AAAAGH I love Felixs' voice actor, the animations amazing the storys actually pretty original, FELIXS' VOICE ACTOR DOESN'T SOUND LIKE HES A ROBOT //thanks 50s felix// and augh its just amazing omg ;u;
It took me like 10 years to figure out that the 'gas' made him feel not afraid of anything and so after they removed it all, he became totally afraid. Because even before, and even in the end, he still had fear of his surroundings.
Why is no-one talking about Felix GUNNING DOWN GHOSTS LIKE A FUCKING SHOOTING GALLERY, USING *BOLTS OF LIGHTNING* FOCUSED THROUGH THE ARMS OF A SUIT OF ARMOR?!
This afternoon we're flying too. Nature and Me. We laugh and play it keeps us gay. Nature and Me. I have begun like me belong, where little Birdies sing this song. Skies of Blue, the whole Day through. Nature and Me. IS THAT RIGHT?^^
This afternoon, we’re right in tune: nature and me We laugh and play; it keeps us gay, nature and me A happy guy like me belongs where little birdies sing their song Skies are blue the whole day through for nature and me
guys, it is a cartoon from the 30's. not only was it basic but it was the best they had. why don't you give it a rest and quit thinking everything is perfect or supposed to be
I grew up watching these before knowing things like: What a lightbulb filament is. Why ghosts are(presumably ancestral) and why they can interact with machines that shouldn’t exist or be affected by them. Lightning switching sides from antagonist to ally for no apparent reason and ENDING THE AFTERLIFE, and what purpose Felix served other than to keep a braggart the way he was, which is basically an ass🙄 No wonder I’m messed up😵💫
It was about 5 years when one of my brothers and me were fighting over a DVD and we broke it. It was a Felix the Cat DVD that my dad bought when I was like 2 It only last like about 3 years and it had this cartoon
I REMEMBER SEEING THIS WHEN I WAS A LITTLE KID, I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THIS SHORT AGAIN!!!
its a great feeling eh!
@@Ronsonator Oh boy, is it
I won't lie, I may be a grown ahh adult.... I got emotional when I rediscovered it back in 2018.
This was my favorite short from Felix the Cat. 🥹
I had it on VHS remember actually getting surprised by my bro laughing at it (scene at 5:50) ... I was like 4 LOL
Wow, I remember watching this when I was growing up.
WakkoWarner123 me too!!! :D

I was just talking to my coworkers about this yesterday, it scared me as a kid. Especially with the bragging machine.
I must be way braver than you it funny too me
Same, these old animation styles in general freak me out presumably from this 😹 I can’t believe I found the exact episode
@@PsychedelicKitten we were the same kids that grew up and are scared of analog horror now as adults 😂
As a kid which I'm 8 almost 9 now I used to be scared of Pinocchio
3:49 I always thought the three-dimensional looking animation on those stairs was pretty impressive, especially since this was nearly half a century before computer graphics came along!
I had this on vhs. I remember watching this all the time as a kid
Zombie Rusty Shackleford me too, but it was in Spanish along with two Merrie Melodies shorts.
Zombie Rusty Shackleford i remember having this and a bunch of other Van Beuren cartoons on a DVD, it also had 2 others, one had a bunch of Felix the Cat cartoons (which was the one i watched the most) and another one with Betty Boop cartoons on it.

My grandma has this cd case with over 500 old cartoons
I remember watching this as a small kid, it always freaked me out! but I so admire it now.
Same!
Still freaks me out. Because I still talk too much myself!
Tobias- the wind taking away scene freaked me out too as a child but I like this now because I grew up.
Who remembers watching this
Me
Me
I remember it started me thinking abt fetishes at too young an age…
I thought that little cartoon cat was funny I even liked how he saved the king really shows he is a kind person
That was the catchiest torture ever
Happy 100th Anniversary, Felix the Cat!
These characters are adorable :0
At least some of them.-.
I remember being really freaked out by the 'Torture Scene' when I was little, I just remembed it again today and searched it up - still makes me feel weird tho
Glaciai same for me this part kinda disturbed me too
Yeah I was so traumatized!

Same here after all these years i just can't get it out of my head
Same man, this gave me a panic attack as a child and my parents had to throw away the CD lmao
Without a doubt my favorite Felix the Cat short as a kid. Second favorite was Skulls and Sculls from the Pat Sullivan made shorts. So nostalgic.
So clever!
My little brother and I used to watch this over and over, lol.
Love the lightning!
After years of shifting through hundreds of cartoons, I finally found it. Time to tick this off of my "White Whale list".
King Steve white whale list? What's that?
Okay
I have one, a cinderella cartoon from around this time frame. Can't for the life of me find it.
Its not even rare. Just not as famous.
They knew how to make cartoons back then have a great one
This gives me load of nostalgia
The stomach punching was overwhelming for me as a child.
Scary or did it make you feel a certain way?
This damn songs gonna be stuck in my head
same.
Felix ,the cat, is the precursor of the Ghostbuster!
i love
this precious cat

Nah, I was too creeped out as a kid because that was pretty much me.
This scared the hell out of me when I was a little girl 😂
I remember this from the kindergarten age in the early 1990s. My grandma had these videos. Love them and bring back memories. Thanks 😊👍❤
"GET OFF THE AIR" 😂😂😂😂😂
This is the first episode i saw about Felix :)
Man I remember seeing part of this from Bill Nye the Science Guy when I was really young, good times lol
Bill Nye the Science Guy! BILL BILL BILL BILL
I don't know what I'm doing.
Which episode?
I remember watching this😸.
AAAAGH I love Felixs' voice actor, the animations amazing the storys actually pretty original, FELIXS' VOICE ACTOR DOESN'T SOUND LIKE HES A ROBOT //thanks 50s felix// and augh its just amazing omg ;u;
Walter Tetley voiced Felix in these shorts.
It took me like 10 years to figure out that the 'gas' made him feel not afraid of anything and so after they removed it all, he became totally afraid. Because even before, and even in the end, he still had fear of his surroundings.
2:17, 2:15, 2:12
The mice at the ending having a casual round in the suits of armor always sends me
Oh my gosh. I remember this!!! Had this in VHS with other old classic cartoons! All black and white! I love this!
That part with the machine 4:22 gives me The Princess Bride vibes if you know what I’m talking about
7:06 it's so odd to hear a king say "mah boi" without following it with, "this peace is what all true warriors strive for"
True.
This is the "My Boy" version.
haha good ol' CDI games XD
0:14 I’ve been looking for this part of the song and I’ve found it because I watched a Felix 100 anniversary video that uses it
I remember watching this on the Casper's Cartoon Fest VHS along with the Cobweb Hotel and the Mel-O-toons short "the Magic Clock"!
"you talk too much you never shut up" haha you dont get songs like that nowadays lol thanks for uploading
But He Clearly Likes It!
I always thought it was "old" king Cole .. Love the nostalgia 💗💗💗
“Dry your eyes and tears away for The Old King Cole then I’m gonna make you smile!”
So this is where J K. Rowling got her ideas from for the ghost paintings haha
WHY WOULD HE HAVE A MACHINE LIKE THIS?!
Maybe when his enemies brags too much he interrogates them with the Anti-Boast Machine?
There's always the possibility it's some sort of medical/therapeutic chair.
Maybe it was meant for massages
So when he got too windy he would beat off.
Too jerk off to
I used to love watching these as a kid
ikr
oh I love this episode, especially cause of the opening *^*
now THIS is quality entertainment!
Why is no-one talking about Felix GUNNING DOWN GHOSTS LIKE A FUCKING SHOOTING GALLERY, USING *BOLTS OF LIGHTNING* FOCUSED THROUGH THE ARMS OF A SUIT OF ARMOR?!
I remember this as a kid. And i was only born in 1997
This was soooooooo suspenseful
It had a different effect on me
5:08 "Take it away! Take it away! I'll never do it again! Take it away! I can't stand it!"
5:36 And he uses his NOSE TO TURN IT OFF😮😮😮
Agh! This one terrified me when I was a kid.
Now that people are realizing that Felix the Cat was already public domain you can make derivatives based on this version of Felix !
This one is not yet public domain, but most of the ones from the 1920s now are.
All the Colored Cartoons are indeed Public Domain.
I have a DVD of Felix the cat cartoons and most of them are (black and white) with other cartoons in it. This short was in it as well
This Brings Back So Many Memories
I used to have this vhs at my grandfather's house. lol.
"We laugh and play, it keeps us Gay"
iiStarnet smh
A long time ago, gay just meant happy.
Marsh The Mime actually, it still does.
I think that machine scene was what led me to having a BDSM kink...
The Cobra Lord same
Tied up to a machine and tortured? yep… a very specific type of bdsm kink 😅
same
bro
glad to see it wasn't just me lmao
this is really cool
4:20 - 4:46 finding weight loss ideas be like 😂😂
Even Felix was a Ghostbuster just like Mickey, Donald and Goofy.

This afternoon we're flying too. Nature and Me.
We laugh and play it keeps us gay. Nature and Me.
I have begun like me belong, where little Birdies sing this song.
Skies of Blue, the whole Day through. Nature and Me.
IS THAT RIGHT?^^
Christoph Enderlein it's, "a happy guy like me belongs where little birdies sing this song". Skies are blue the whole day through for nature and me."
This afternoon, we’re right in tune: nature and me
We laugh and play; it keeps us gay, nature and me

Those ghosts in this cartoon make this look like a Halloween special
I was around 1st grade when I saw this. I was 6 years old and now I'm 15. Years goes by fast. I always thought Felix the cat was a girl 😂
Clips of this cartoon are featured in the music video of Ain't Easy Being Mean by Ultramonk 9.

I always loved that song in the beginning! And the rest of the cartoon for that matter.
I remember watching this when I was really little and it gave me nightmares lol

he was still bragging at the end.
omg, yay. but felix deserves more than price!
This song is so catchy

Absolutely. A brave new world, as it were.
Apparently nature hates you felix. Also, mah boi.

Nice!
