      Just so you know clean it with baking soda and water only. Plus you should season it when it comes in. I’m learning myself and haven’t seasoned mine yet

    Yes I am so excited! I found a small clay pot at the thrift store today, just a small one. As soon as I saw your channel I could tell you make a delicious meal! Thank you so very much! I'm so excited for this recipe and to try this out. Wonderful video! 😄

    Great video for being "amateur" production value ( I mean that in the nicest of ways ) - You got all the good angles and visuals. The music choice was great. And most importantly; The food came out fantastic. If I could give two thumbs up I would.

    Wow! That's so amazing to see, how potato was baked and has a crisp on it by cooking in closed sphere.

    Oh man Ry this looks so good and best part its so simple. Those onions at the bottom that are carmelized and has absorbed all those flavors. I could fear those up. Now all I need is the clay pot. 😁

      I soak my clay pot for 30 mins in hot water before use. And like Ry said put it in a COLD oven then turn it on.
      I blew up my first one not doing that and what a mess!

    Excellent cook Ry.
    We have 3 clay pots. 1 unglazed and two glazed. The unglazed one i got for my 20th birthday/combination moving into my own home party. It has been extremely well used. But i have not made one video here on youtube in all the 400 or so that i have posted - and i have no idea why lol.
    I need to film something this weekend :) Thanks so much for the inspiration!

    I have a Henry Watson oval clay pot & have never used it. It was a gift many years ago. Will it work with this same technique? Do I need to prep the pot before using it?

    There is something almost therapeutic about your videos. Between the tone of voice and background music. After a long day at work its nice. However, there is one small thing that distracts me lol. Knife skills brother, knife skills 😀 pointing finger down the blade has got to go lol. If anything fake it until you make it. Keep them coming, I will still watch.

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No knife skills here, and there likely never will be. Still have the fingertips...for now :)

    I don’t have a clay pot, but I would guess a cast iron Dutch oven would work equally as well. Thoughts?

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Similar. I've done both, and there is something different about the clay pot results in the moisture department. With cast iron I find I need to add a little liquid, but in the clay pot I haven't had to do that :)

    • @frossm
      @frossm 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So it a cold oven. Is it 90 mins from start or 90 mins from when the oven hits 450?

    Where did you get the clay pot at

  • @mdbaus
    @mdbaus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I cook a chicken in the oven, at 350 for 90 min....does the clay pot require that high temp?

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think of it as a barrier that needs to heat up from cold, then transfers that heat evenly throughout the contents :)
