I’m so sorry to hear that you lost several plants 🙁 I’m sure you learned your lesson but I appreciate you sharing your experience with us so we don’t make the same mistake.
I always treat the surrounding area with pests if i find on one. especially with alocasia! Apparently spider mites can become resistant to insecticides so the trick is to rotate different types of treatments!
I've been putting 50% fine pumice in with 50% Fluval to stretch the (very expensive) Fluval. But, there is a local store that sells the pumice for cheap, so its easy for me to get.
I didn’t have the best luck with stratum, couldn’t tell you if it was the stratum, me, or the giant chonks of pothos vines I brought back from Hawaii shhhhh! 😂 my alocasias sometimes go dormant ( looks dead) when switching to leca semi hydro I just waited till spring and most came back, but, they didn’t rot, I got lucky I’ve got a dragon scale and a homalomena doing that now from transferring them. So sorry about yours!! The longiloba is a nice one I’ve lost sooo many plants, a lot of them I have no idea why, ALOT I overwatered. There are a few I will, or am trying again, some I’m not… *cough… calathea or strings of things*… lol I am still devastated about the more rare/expensive ones… I want a melo, looks like Tandarusa texture! And a ninja! Gorgeous
Oh no! I’m glad I’m not alone but Ja Alocasia are still super overdramatic drama queens 😂 But they so worth it. If it wasn’t for semi hydro I wouldn’t be able to keep one alive. Yes I also thought it was that alocasia but it does look slightly different. I love the ninja, sad that spider mites are taking over 😔
Hello, I also lost some when putting in pon-I guesses that the rocks were too harsh on the fine roots so now I remove some of the fine ones & seems to be better. ALLLSO, I read somewhere that when they flower-they want to flower so by cutting them off makes them produce more & more! I leave them now & they just get it over with quite quickly. Xxx thanks for the vid xx
Hi! Hmm i was also wondering that maybe the coarse mix is too coarse for the finer roots that they made in the finer mix… Oo I didn’t know that. I haven’t cut the blooms of the dragon moon so I’ll leave them and see what it does. Thank you! 💚
Aww R.I.P sweet Alocasias. I was wondering which Alocasia do you think from experience is a much easier Alocasia to deal with ..one that's not so fussy
Is stratum hard pebbles or soft pebbles? Just bought alocasia amazonica today at ikea, I was going for pots. Well 150.00 later tons of pots and one plant. I want to start stratum. Any advice
Ooo that’s a good find for Ikea. Hard pebbles. It’s mainly used for plants in aquariums. So far what I’m doing is working, I can already see roots and sprouting going on and it’s only been 4 days. So if you want to give it a try, do what I did in the video 😂
Love this alocasia corner!
Thank you! I must say it is satisfying to have them grouped together 🥰
I've had good success with corms in stratum. What you did looks perfect!
Good! I’m glad it’s been 4 days and I can already see progress 😍
Put the corms in Perlit, the will grow better. I haven 't brocken one yet. Good luck. 😊
Thank you! Yes I do want to try with perlit as well 😁

Thank you! And of course we all learning here ☺️
We've all done the fuss thing girl. Thanks for sharing mistakes ❤
Grow, little corms, grow!
🤞🏼🙏🏼💚

Oh no I hope they don’t become resistant too quickly… yes I’ve redone that Alocasia corner, so hopefully I got them all now 🫣

It is expensive isn’t it! I just ordered a bag of 8kg and with shipping it was €47 🫣 does it work as well with the pumice?
@@myjunglestory I haven't seen any differences except to my wallet 🤪
Nebulas actually seem to be be difficult imo. I have one I decided to put in semi hydro and it's finally doing something!
Ja I’ve also heard that they can be difficult… mine was doing so well in semi hydro but she seems thrive more on neglect than me fussing over her 😂
Nice sharing this tips.

@@myjunglestory I only have the fine mix-I put lots of perlite in the mix now-to make it lighter. Fingers crossed xxx
The Leca Queen calls that the long method and it works really well
Aww R.I.P sweet Alocasias. I was wondering which Alocasia do you think from experience is a much easier Alocasia to deal with ..one that's not so fussy
The regal shield is probably my most easiest alocasia. Hasn’t had pests as much as the others and sizes up super fast 😍
Put it in stratum and it’s ok if it don’t have lots of roots they grow fast in stratum
It’s been 5 days since I did the stratum and already I see so many roots, so I’m definitely using that more ☺️
my alocasia bambino just sent up a huge leaf its still emerging and dwarfs all of the other leafs.. when it spreads its wings its gonna be lovely :)
Ah I still want a bambino! My mom has 2 so when they produce corms I’ll be pinching one 😉
Azlanii is the better version of the Cuprea imo 😏 the pink tiny veins are gorgeous
Yes I love those pink veins. I’m not giving up on the cuprea though 😂
Do any of your alocasia live with a bigger reservoir
No I’ve never gone bigger than what you see in the video.

@@myjunglestory is it hard pebbles or soft
you could put the corms in 3 percent hydrogen peroxide instead of water so they don't rot
Hmm good idea. But I’ve made a conscious effort to not let them sit for too long 😂
