yep...authority model and email marketing is where it's at. I have split tested different approaches and it's the authority model that still allows me to make passive income from books I published 3 years ago. Longevity! Luckily, it's not that hard to optimize old books and switch to authority self pub:)

The outsource model is to "active" haha

sure, quality outsource model can also be authority model. It's possible with pen names.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing too. I'm talking throwing things up on amazon hoping to make big bucks with no system in place.

yes, you are right Tyler. I have done both. I have written my own books, I have outsourced some books too (pen names) and there is also the third way- hybryd (you outsource some parts and edit it yourself, it can be a great starter if you want to get used to writing and get better connection with your readers). Whatever you choose- do it with the authority model for more success. This is how you build up sustainable passive income and feel good that your books can actually help someone.

Great long term model, but what is the main benefit to this? Is it to give more credibility by having a website devoted to your niche and therefore readers will be more likely to sign up to your list? I see how it can be good once someone gets to the website and discovers other books and uses back links. Don't see how there would be a lot of traffic gathered through google unless you were to post a lot.
Also, say someone was starting from scratch and published their first book and created their website in "X" niche, how would you reap the benefits of your list for the first several books published? There would be no list for the first book and would take time for the list to grow to where it could make a big difference in sales

      Hi Chris,
The main benefit is you'll have an automated system that sells your books in your niches.
      Other pros:
      . credibility
. more opt-ins besides just the Kinde book optin page (this can be especially helpful if ppl find your site first and then opt-in and get your books sold to them)
. no need to review swap anymore as you ask for a review via emails (and build a relationship with audience)
. Your books continuously cycle if your autoresponder is done correctly.
That last part is a great question. If you have no existing reviews on a set of books you can (1) create a net of perma-free set of books that are built for email opt-ins, in order to get them into your email autoresponder that's responsible for selling your paid books. (2) You can get paid reviews at the beginning, but for the next 3 months focus on list building and email marketing. There's no easy transition here. Eventually, you want to come to the light side, it costs less money and you don't risk your account.
If you haven't already, read my post on Marta's course - publishing email success: www.freedomboundbusiness.com/publishing-email-success-review/

Thanks so much! The permafree method would be great for first starting. Great points mentioned

John, I have a few questions regarding the "Authority Model." You said the "Authority Model" is established through email marketing. But is there a page on amazon kindle that publishers can use to create a list of the books they have created in order to advertise and back-link back to their books?
Also, I already have a personal website and my kindle books revolve around my website. So should I simply post my books on my personal website and backlink them back to amazon kindle (kind of like affiliate marketing)?
    (Or)
Should I simply try to sell my amazon kindle ebooks on my own website for full price instead of only getting a percentage from amazon kindle?
    (or)
Should I simply create a very simple website where I can advertise all of my kindle books?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

      Hi HispanicFitness,
There's always Amazon Author Central. I recommend those. What I would do in your situation is use email marketing in conjunction w/ your existing site. Every email you send out that promotes a book, send them to a web page that hosts your books (or a page per book). This is better than sending them directly to an Amazon page for your book. This way you get a backlink that most other book's don't get.
If you're not sure how to mix up email marketing with your niche, check out Marta's email course: Publishing Email Success. I wrote a review about it here:www.freedomboundbusiness.com/publishing-email-success-review/
As far as a simple site for all your kindle books, you can do this - i've seen authors do this. This should work as well. It's up to you if you want to include all your pen names under one brand at that point.
