  • One of the details to check on a recumbent trike is the toe-in of the front wheels. Or as one would say - the front wheel alignment or tracking. It is relatively easy to check it and a little more complicated to adjust it.
In the video, our ambassador Matt Galat explains why the toe-in is so important, in which cases it is necessary to do so and how it can be adjusted. He will also show you what tools you will need.

Great Video. When I purchased my new ti-fly X last year I couldn't believe how slow it was. It was my first trike so I thought, wow, trikes are slow. Finally saw a list of reasons why your trike could be slow and at the top of the list was tracking. I measured mine and it was almost 2" toed out.....lol.

AZUB I bought a Ti-Fly 26 from you in 2016 and I mostly love the machine but this setting is and has always been quite problematic, getting the rear measurement at the halfway level is impossible because the steering system is placed between the main spar and the ground and is in the way of the measurement! AZUB please supply your customers with the measurement between the main spar and the rear of the front wheel rim center line thank you. Also if the steering system was mounted above the main spar it wouldn't get smacked about on contact with obstacles which knocks the steering geometry "out of whack" and the steering would not push the top chain line out of alignment every time we turn full left. Just an experienced observation;) Apart from that and a couple of other things, a marvelous Trike. :)

the tracking of a ti-fly is all over the place the tips of the leaves are sensetive try this with a weight on the seat and use big enough tires so te tire wall could help when the track gets of track with the suspension travel

Does anyone know if there is the a video out there to fix this but with direct steering? How does having one tie rod as opposed to two change this correction?

Just a question what is the starting distance between the wheels for you to correct to as you do not mention this. So how do you correct it with out knowing the correct distance in mm to start with just wondering like. i got the 2mm gap difference at the rear. but what is the distance in mm between the front of the wheel rims.

The measurement is a relative measurement, not absolute. Front of tire to back of tire.

LOL.. I was riding in the bike lane under an underpass.. didn't see in the shade (going from bright sun to dark shade) that the DOT decided to put a curb, narrowing the lane from 4' to less than 2'... my right tire hit that curb at about 25mph... I didn't notice that i through the trike out of alignment until one of the tires started wearing fast.. Took it to RoseCityRecumbenCycles to find out why it was wearing so fast.. Well... It was way out of alignment, and needed the toeIN adjusted.. And that pull to the right went away... LOL. Live and learn.. I don't know if you've noticed that all the potholes are increasing and not being repaired. And I suspect, that curb in the dark was placed there to cause accidents. LOL.. I don't think the DOT likes cyclist.. LOL

It should be toe in and not tow in. :)

Thanks for the info but 2mm difference is hard to measure with these methods. You measurement error with finding a parallel with the ground and picking identical spots on the rims is probably about 2 mm with each measurement.
