    It is a good idea to use it for my power strip for all my laptops and monitors. Because I personally don’t turn them off.
    Side note, nice cable management as well.

      i need to test it out then update you again. Some of them are saved on the plug, but once wifi is down, you can't control the on/off

    Hi Alex, thanks for the video to clarify if we need to have the neutral wire. Can i check if we are able to combine both Xiaomi and Aqara eco system in the same house so we can use both Xiaomi products and aqara products

      only consume a little, of course you will save more if you are all doing it manually

    Wanted to do smart home when i renovated, but the cabling is so expensive. These kind of smart plugs are definitely helpful and helps save costs as not all devices needed to be smart.

    Google now has automatic presence sensing based on device location, so you no longer need to manually tell Google you're leaving the house. You can set it up so that once all your phones get a certain distance away from your house, it will start a routine you choose.

      basically that's call geofencing, only apply for lights and switches device type in google home. Google still has a lot to catch up in their routines.

    Great content; keep it up (esp. with more reviews on affordable Tuya devices)!
    I think you can also switch off the plug to your phone charger when the charge is at 100%, but some elbow grease is required - use MacroDroid to detect battery level and then to operate the UI on Google Home.

      you can use any device that has built in google assistant, not necessary a nest mini.

      @@essg27 you don't need any of the google speaker products to use voice command. It can run on your mobile device, or a branded speakers out there like bose, sonos and etc. All you want to look out for is whether it has built in google assistant

      @@erfvn i recommend you to get the ikea smart plugs instead as they are able to relay the zigbee signals for your smartThings hub, provided you are ok with the aesthetics

Also i heard that in order to use the ikea plug, I can't use it just by itself because I need their Tradfri gateway? Im not so sure though

      not easy because you need to have it wired, but generally all of them are pretty similar, difference in aesthetic and supported ecosystem only

    btw do u have any idea the differences between this teckin vs other brands like tp-link?
    and do you have any concern that these devices do not have the safety stamp...
    the teckin is using what application and i assume it link to google home since u can control it

      teckin is using smart life, quite a common platform for all the small brands to put their devices there. No idea what's the difference with tp-link, but I have a viewer comment complain about its intermittent connection lost issue

    Love how smart plugs can be used to make life easier. Surely would use them for switching on and off devices when I'm going out or sleeping.

    Cool stuff and ideas! I have been using smart plug to automate the switchover from air-conditioner to fan in the middle of night to save energy! Looking for more ways to make my home smarter and your videos is an inspiration.

    Thanks for sharing these great tips! Have always wanted to try them out. I think it will be good to plug the smart plugs to the robot vacuum cleaner and WiFi range extender for better control of usage and convenience.

    HI Alex, thanks for sharing your knowledge, i got an tp link tapo P100 smart plug, but when i turn it off, the power was not cut off. My smart plug is inserted into the wall socket, and my power strip is connected to the smart plug(power strip has on/off switch too), any idea what i did wrong? thanks!

    Hi Alex! I will be moving into my new house soon and currently planning my house renovation with my ID. I always needed some ideas on renovating my new house. That's where I chanced upon your videos. Your videos are super useful and very easy to understand. First and foremost, I think you house is very nicely done. I have also seen your other videos on gadgets and home renovation tip. What caught my eye most is the Ultimate Guide to Start & Build a Smart Home. Never knew there were such things before watching your video. This smart switch is definitely super useful. For example, I can use it to not to overcharge my smart devices. The best part is overall I can save energy being used and also it makes lives better. Technology is sure evolving very fast these day. Thank you for sharing.

    Happy New Year Alex ! Great video. Just starting to get into this smart-home journey. No smart plug devices in the home yet.. but I do have Google Mini and Amazon Echo in the house. Will get the smart plugs to try out. Keep up the videos. Easy to understand

    Like always, your videos give great tips on smart home devices usage. I used smart plug mainly to switch off my bedroom fan automatically in the morning, and also for television operations.

      yeah hope so, but too bad xiaomi is not friendly with google. Will need a wifi lock instead of a bluetooth one as well

    I'm a tech noob who is trying to convince my husband to make our new BTO home smart. Thanks for making it so much easier to understand. I actually have a "disease" of forgetting to on the plug every time I plug my devices into the mobile/laptop charger. Now I know the plug can be kept on without the risk of overcharging! HAHA You gave me a cure!!!
