I just visited Nusa Penida and I love the island so much, I can foresee myself staying on this island for retirement too. I have made some videos about this island and it is on my youtube channel as well. By the way I love the way you make the videos.

I'm actually going to nusa penida for 2 nights in a couple of days and trying to plan day tours through our stay on the island (one west, one east). We're a bit worried that with the rainy season and from what I heard of the roads riding a scooter would be dangerous, so that's why we're trying day tours with private car.
How long does a (Manta) snorkling tour from crystal beach take?

I totally agree with your comments about a day trip.
I completed the day -trip a few weeks ago. It was really rushed, the mini bus ride was the worst that i have ever experienced. At one point I thought that I had damaged my spine due to the driver's speed over what felt like bricks on the road.
When we did reach a destination, it was really rushed, I barely had time to take photographs, it was a constant, come on, come on, come on, we gotta to get to the next place. In fact when I recount the trip. I don't remember actually having the time to take in the scenes direct. All my recollections were just through my camera, it was that bad.
Also, the speed of the guide was ridiculous. He was young, must have completed the walk up the steep dirt tracks numerous times and he was obviously fit and able.
My group had a mix all ages and some like me in their 60's. There were also parents with children.
The guide didn't appear to take any of this into consideration. I could see some parents wanting to buy drinks for their children who were thirsty but they were rushed. Although I just about managed to keep up, I couldn't see anyone who wasn't struggling with the pace and the heat.
If I were to ever visit this place again, I would not book a day trip. When it was over, I felt that I had just completed an army obstacle course and, failed. I was aching for days.

I’ve watched most of your videos on Indonesia now in preparation for my own trip this September 😅 (they are great btw, thank you for the honest reviews and information!)
I’ve been one time before doing Ubud and Uluwatu, so this time I want to experience some other places. Therefore, I am wondering where is your fav destination for chilling on the beach and swimming? I am struggling finding the right spot this time around, so curious for your opinion! I am up for anywhere in Indonesia you have to recommend! I’ve looked a lot around the internet, but are struggeling to find the right chill beach destination which is also good for swimming (not only surfing lol) to end our travel. We already have a long list of places to explore, but need a good place to relax before going home. Thank you in advance!! 🤙🏼☺️

We will have 2 suitcases and plan to go to Gillis and Nusa Penida. We are struggling on what to do with our suitcases since taking them to these islands is not really recommended. We are checking out of our Ubud hotel when we go to the Gillis and going to Nusa right after so no hotel in between. Any suggestions? Thank you for your guidance and suggestions.

Thank you this was plenty useful! Few questions if I may,
    1) If I dont want to take all my luggage to Nusa Penida but neither do I want to retain my accommodation in Bali (so as to save money), is there some kind of storage place in Bali where one can keep their luggage for a few days?
    2) So I have never snorkelled but its something I would love to learn. The question is, I always wonder how people who wear spectacles manage to be in the water without their glasses. Isn't it difficult to see? Asking from Rhett's point of view.
Thank you so much and looking forward to more awesome stuff! :D

This video is a complete lie from start to finish. My girlfriend and I just spent a week on the island. Here are our impressions:
    1. The ferries from each harbour cost roughly the same, but if you don’t go from Sanur, you will have to pay almost double for your taxi/grab to the other harbour, so more expensive (if you come from the airport)!
    2. Well, there is more to know about arriving here: Maybe, that you also have to pay 25k IDR on the spot in cash when entering the island.
    3. People are not asking you to rent a scooter, they are forcing you to. If you pay 100k IDR, you got ripped off. We payed 75k and the condition was good.
    4. The island really offers stunning scenery at the touristy beaches and view points. But the reality is, that a lot of the nature is destroyed for building mores resorts and that there is tons, literally tons of trash lying around everywhere, which the video doesn’t show, because it will keep people from buying thru the creators affiliate links. Also keep in mind, that this video is highly color graded. The island doesn’t look like this. You will have to pay at almost every touristy spot for parking and entering.
    5. The food on the island is bad. It is very hard to find a restaurant, which doesn’t serve you very boring food. Most stuff tastes the same and the portions are way too small. A lot of restaurant owner also add a fake tax and an additional service charge to your bill, making it 15% more expensive. That also accounts for “The CHILL”, which is promoted in this video. We have also been there and were disappointed by the staff. The water from the “digital nomad pool” was also very dirty.
Summing up this island is a complete tourist trap and the reality is different from what you see here. You will see tons of trash, smoke of burning plastic trash piles and a lot of stray dogs and cats in extremely bad conditions.
I am really angry with people like you. You are misleading others on purpose to make money from your affiliates. Shame on you.

You do realise this video was published 2 years ago and that things in life are constantly changing? The video is not highly colour graded as you state. In fact none of our videos are. We shoot out or camera…What specific affiliate links are you under the
Impression we are making a ton of money from? You are highly mistaken on that. The only money we make from this video is from Adsense which is driven by engagement from comments like this. It is truly sad to hear your experience was vastly different from ours. We are aware of the changes to places like the lift being built at Kilingkling beach and it greatly sadness us too. You are not alone on that. As we said things change. Please don’t think we are misleading people. That is in face the last thing we try and do. Everything single one of our videos is out there to help and provide as much value and useful information as possible. That’s is why we do what we do. And will continue to do so. And to your point on food? Well what do you expect? If the island does not go through these changes and development, how is the food going to get better? It is a rural island with many limitations? One of which being its isolation. Bad food is a product of that fact. It is what it is.
