    Thanks, Amanda. This is the first time I understand the stitch and the difference between the left and right twist. You're amazing. :)

    This is the best video I've seen thus far. Thank you for putting both lt and rt on the same swatch, as well as doing the traveling and column formats! It's answered all of my questions!!!

    Thank you so much! I'm knitting the In-Between Seasons Cap with O-Balance wool and the directions for the twL and twR stitches is written terribly. It was a mess as written. Then I came here and found that you put the needle through BOTH stitches and it made all the sense in the world. I wish designers would take a minute longer to write their instructions accurately and clearly for those of us doing stitches like this for the first time. Your camera is always in the right place, too.

    This is fantastic! I was ready to give up on the pattern until I found this tutorial . And thank you Sky for help making the left twist be a mirror image as that was what my pattern needed.

    Thanks Amanda! As an experienced knitting and following a UK pattern I was totally confused but your video cleared it up very nicely.

    Thank you so much! I’m doing the Diamond Slouch Hat by Sarah Keller… it’s my first hat AND my first chart pattern, and it’s easier to understand if I know what the stitches are going to be creating in advance. 😊

    Nice! But one thing to clarify: doing the left twist this way results in the individual sts being “twisted” on themselves. I won’t say that it’s wrong because it is one way to do a left twist and clearly you are making fine work with it and don’t mind, and it’s quick and easy. But it does result in a structurally different result that isn’t a mirror match for the right twist shown-which the vid doesn’t mention. But If you slip the two sts k-wise, and then transfer them back to the left needle BEFORE working them (just as you would do for an SSK, and for the same reason), you’ll get a mirror image left twist to the right twist you show, with regular (open, “non-plaited”) stitch loops.

    I agree with Sky Ardee: The left twist needs to mirror the right twist: Slip the two sts k-wise and then transfer them back to the left needle before working them.

    hmmm this is a new technique for me. Rather interesting. Looks like it'd be a bit tricky if one knits really tightly....thankfully, I don't haha. If I choose to do Strappy Stella Gloves, I'll be giving it a go! Looks like it'd be a very flattering detail on a sweater on the sides if they are placed strategically.

    Thanks for the video. To work the reverse side, does one just purl all stitches?

    • @ericbendickson5725
      @ericbendickson5725 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seriously, how do you purl from the back side to keep the traveling stitches the same on the right side of the work where the Knits travel?

    I'm having trouble with this Left twist and Right twist; for one thing, the instuction in my book has me doing it on reverse stockinette (don't know why). and after going into the second stitch backwards, I didn't know how to wrap the yarn around to purl it! it was like playing hand-Twister. But I really don't get why on reverse stockinette???

      Hi Suzanne, hard to say without seeing exactly what's happening. You can use our Store Locator (www.berroco.com/locator) to see if there's a yarn shop near you that might be able to help you in person!

      Hi Eric, You're not really twisting the stitches-think about this as a 1x1 cable. It's just also called a right twist or left twist. So you're working into the stitches on the right side as you would normally (into the front leg, not through the back loop) and then working them as a regular purl stitch on the wrong side.

      I don't think so, the yarn is thin enough to be able to see what's going on, it's a great video and helped me learn how to do it :D
