- Nestled in the hills on the boundary of the Transkei, between the Great Kei and Kubusi Rivers, lies an area few have ever heard of, and even fewer have hunted making it ideal for this Kudu Hunt. For generations, it has been the secret of the locals who have safe-guarded this little known region to the outside world. Over the years Kudu numbers rose and what at first was seen as a rarity soon flourished into a stable Kudu population over the past two decades.
The lay of the land, characterized by heavy wooded gorges and valleys, with limited access saw a Kudu quality develop as few have ever seen. Kudu living in the back valleys with little to zero human contact experienced an explosion in the population that saw the landowners, the ultimate custodians of the wildlife, find old remains of massive bulls and old cows who had died of old age on a more regular basis. It was time for the landowners to step in and start managing the population.
Our old friend, Uncle Dennis Charleton, an avid Gunwerks and John X Safaris supporter over the years, he once again joined us on safari for this exclusive opportunity. Uncle Dennis hunted a few spectacular animals along the way as well as two big Kudu bulls, the first being a great old brute heavy from the base to the tip and the second could be one of the most spectacular bulls ever hunted. The area and the hunt combining both the Kei and Woodlands Safari Estate made for special viewing and hunting…. enjoy the hunt and you’ll understand why we’ve fallen in love with this little known region.

The big bull took that shot with barely a flinch. I'd have been hesitant to use 6.5 mm but it obviously did the job. Good shot, sir, and great guiding.

"Oh boy" that second Kudu bull is magnificent, all the animals were magnificent, beautiful country and one very lucky hunter to take these animals congratulations on another outstanding hunt and video.
Great video some very nice trophies taken. The hunter along with the PH both deserve credit for a good hunt.
Thats probably the biggest kudu bulls ive seen in a long time....and not only just a few....good shooting sir!

To the "dislike", above, please explain. I have a 6.5x55 Swede and shoot kudu bulls, warthog, fallow, Mnt Reedbuck etc with Fed Fusion 140gr (95% retention), and wish to know if this great hunter and his super PH used similar, Creedmore, 6.5x47 or what?

Hope you enjoyed the recovery on that last bull. Looks like the type of area all my big kudu are shot. 600m from the road in thick bush. 4 hours to haul the beast out. Great video.
