    For others who don’t have the option to export the .FBX to .RCS, I found that you can settle for .PTS. Then start a new point cloud project in Recap (Not Photo) and proceed to export to RCS!

    Great workflow! If the final output is just for visualization you could have stayed in Blender. Bring the sketchup/revit model into the .blend file and add some HDRIs, fix up some of the janky textures/buildings there.

      Most architects don't have Blender in their skillset because most their time is spent in Revit or AutoCAD, its more-so graphics dedicated people that use it. Enscape, Lumion, and Twinmotion are tailored towards architects for quick visualization.

    Few people have problems between different versions of Blender, Renderdoc and Maps plugin importer not working.
    I recommend trying earlier versions to see if they work.

      Working combination i'm using for a while now: Google Maps Importer 0.5.0, Renderdoc 1.19. Blender 3.1.2. Thanks for your video. I've found some handy tricks for cleaning up some mesh and exporting a fbx for use in 3ds max, which I didnt know before. Maybe another method for scaling a Google Model Importer capture to real world scale: Before i'm using captures from Google Model Importer, I always make a image overlay from the OpenStreetMaps plugin for Blender. A really fast and simple way to make a real world scale mesh (with or without terrain height) with a (adjustable resolution) image overlay. From there I import various captures from Google Model Importer and scale them to the OSM image overlay.

    • @byDevCreates
      @byDevCreates  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly can vary quite a bit from 40mb to 400mb+ depending on the quality of the textures you extract (how much you zoom in), and the overall extents of your site.

    This is a really fantastic workflow! So Clever. Unfortunately though, when I export the RCS file from Recap Photo and bring the final product into Revit, it loses half of the points and has white dots everywhere. Have I not set a resolution setting properly somewhere along the line? Such a great backdrop for architecture assignments, I really would love to get the final product looking fantastic. Seems that most people on this post have got it right. Does anyone know what I have done wrong?

    Thanks, this is a really useful workflow tutorial. Do you have any advice on how to relink textures in the Enscape asset editor? I'm trying to import a site into Enscape and the OBJ file does not come in with any textures. I can relink them individually but that isn't practical for 400+ texture files. Tried the GLTF export suggested in another comment, but that keeps crashing Enscape entirely.

    • @byDevCreates
      @byDevCreates  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you found it helpful! Honestly I'm not too sure, I know this was a concern of mine going forward so that is why I preferred the plugin to merge them, just incase it failed in the future I only had 1 texture to re-link.

    • @0skeletor
      @0skeletor ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@byDevCreates Thanks for responding! I did use the Lily plugin and created the texture, but unfortunately it didn't relink all of them at the same time. This may be because I had to transfer the files to another machine and the file paths couldn't link up naturally. I really enjoyed learning this workflow though, so thank you for posting it!
