Calvin is providing very good information. I was in the Air Force in the late 70s at Patrick AFB in Cocoa Beach. Met many GIs who brought back wives from the PI. They really did not have a choice. Their tours were up and they were reassigned to the US. Over 2 years I made friends with 10 or so couples returning from Clark AFB.. Within those 2 years all but 1 couple were either divorced or in trouble. The westernization really changed their views and beliefs. It was sad to see these friends go though hell.

You are keeping it a buck fifty. My girlfriend wants to come to the States to work with me for a year and a half, and then we return to her province. They seem to have this television version of what the United States of America is like, and do not realize the issues that we actually have here. North America seems to be a big dream to many of the Filipinos. I keep it real with my girl, though. There is so much violence where I live (Columbus, Ohio), that I feel much safer in the Philippines. In fact, I cannot believe that I was walking around Manila at night without much issue. I hope to move to the Philippines in a year or less, or a year and a half if she comes here to work. My prospect in the Philippines is to become naturalized. The only culture shock that I had in the Philippines, was that the kids were actually outside playing. I love us all playing volleyball and spinning tops there. I remember falling during a volleyball game, and the kid held out his hand to help me stand up. And every time the ball went into the creek, the kids would run past me to retrieve it. Admittedly, I do not like having to pay for loads for wifi, but it is certainly worth the sacrifice. The usual limited meals is not to my liking, and I will need to create dishes and eat more than just plain white rice. Oh, and creating those dishes that I can enjoy, happens to grow all around the property.

Many filipinas want a better life. Well, you can show her a better life in her own country. You can take her to nice expensive restaurants, take her shopping for designer things or just shopping in general, you can take her to nice resorts across the philippines. The list of things you can do in the philippines for her to have a better life goes on and on. Heck, you can even take her on trips outside of the philippines. I believe in a way, I got lucky. It worked out for both myself and my wife for over ten years. But the risks are real there. I feel fortunate to have given her the opportunity to she took advantage of, as well, I feel fortunate enough to have returned her back to her home to allow her and I to live out our life’s. As well, Materialism runs deep in a lot of us from the US. The key to it all is recognizing that it’s there and if you happen to live with it. Your on the right path Calvin. They will continue plan-demic for years, and more people these countries will starve or die from the vaccine. If you don't believe me, go research what Bill gates says about depopulating the Earth and Covid. All this covid and vaccine crap has been planned for years.

Calvin, it would be really easy to argue against your hypothesis regarding taking a Filipina to the US because there are so many variables, some of which involve age.... BUT, lots of street wisdom in what you’re sayin. I’m working on getting a K-1 visa and US residency permit for my long-term partner so she can travel easier for visits to the US, Europe, and other places. However, we have a really nice house we built in Pampanga and we will live there 6 months a year when I retire. I enjoy the traditional Filipino values and I just don’t know if it would be the same living full time in the US. And like you say... she would be perfectly happy living full time in PH, but I’m not sure I would be!
All the best to you. I enjoy your “wisdom from experience” take on the wide variety of subjects you cover.

I'm constantly telling the truth to Filipinos about the reality of 'Merika . The cost of living, the violence, the corruption, the police, the bad weather, laws and regulations, the taxes, etc. After they hear reality they say that they haven't heard about stuff like that.

I wanted to make a point that when you bring them to the US on K1 visa, you are responsible 10 years for them especially if the relationship don't work out. Also if you if bring them to your country, if they been living in the city, they don't want to live in the country on a farm or small town. That will end the relationship real fast.

They do deal with racism or discrimination here. Big time, They judge the skin color here big time. The darker skin color is look looked down apun That is why the white skin bleach is very big here. Just look at all the tv stars here most are white skin. They think you are a farmer here working outside if you are darker. Now as for living here you are right for most of them. The big thing will the age difference if a 60 plus guy brings a early 20 something back to the states They will find it hard, lots of bad looks. Labels of child exploitation will hit her. There was this young lady who could not take it She drowned her kid and took a shot to her head. It happens.. Now as for us. We married young I was 21 and she was 20.. we went together for a year before we got married. After 2 years of marriage I was station back in the states. And she lived in the states for 31 years. But I had a great job that let us take 2 month vacations almost every year to visit her family..We retired when I was 57 and we moved over here but we still go back to the states every year for 7 weeks to visit my family and our son. And we plan on going back when I'm 70 I'm 62 now. My wife knows the health care here sucks as compared to the states So we are buying a condo in Fla to spend our golden years. Still warm there is the important thing..No snow for us..

Hey Calvin hope all is well, I was just having a similar conversation with someone about what it means to come to this country and live here and I would advise any Filipina or Filipino to do some serious homework about the different cultures how this country came to be, and the different types of prejudice that can really affect you on a daily basis if you've never experienced it, now don't get me wrong this is where I was born and I'll always love my country but like many others, enough is enough, this place will eat you alive they should know the glitz and glamor they see, the movies, the fashion all the shiny trinkets that will lead you to believe this is a heaven on Earth type of situation can really be just smoking gun and while I know that every country has its issues this is a whole different monster, so with that said I'm on your team just don't do it maybe bring her for a visit and that's about it it's amazing how many people really don't understand this country just like we don't understand a lot about different countries until we personally experience various things that can happen, in real quick just let me say there are some great things that anyone would enjoy and love to experience here in the USA, so let me give a shout out to the sunshine shoulders Nation much love peace ✌️

There are certain places here in FL that I just completely avoid just because of that. I’m 30 minutes away from Orlando. My wife has already experienced some kind of discrimination at work. It all started with COVID-19. My wife doesn’t look like the typical Filipina. She is very light and looks a lot more Asian. A lot of idiots assume that she is Chinese and you know where I’m going with that.

I’ve probably spent some time around your way. I lived in Palm Coast for 10 months and had a few friends in Apopka. I used to go on that casino cruise ship in Orlando every few months. We moved to the DC area where I grew up before covid hit so didn’t get any Asian backlash from it. Where we live now you could walk in to a room of 20 people and there might be 5 black, 5 white, 5 Hispanic, and 5 Asian..so diverse and multi cultural that no real racist would want to live here.
