Agreed! I think it was a fantastic culmination of the movies that preceded it, we got some much-needed characterization for the prince, Cinderella got to be proactive in following her dreams, and the humor was on point. There is nothing wrong with it.

@@evelynmucio4207 The difference is that while Cinderella's dress was designed by an actual costume designer, Belle's dress was essentially designed by Emma. Not a good decision on the producer's end to allow their actors to have a say in their costumes when it's not their job to do so.
Really? I found the Cinderella remake to be kinda boring to be honest (but the original is the same). It was okay, but I liked the Beauty and the Beast remake way more.

If Rags was a Disney Channel Movie, it would get the appreciation it deserves (specifically the songs). Max Schneider especially doesn’t get enough credit, he’s the best male singer I’ve seen on Disney and Nick. The show How To Rock was also underrated, Cymphonique Miller and him are extremely talented

Lucy Hale’s A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song had such a different take on the classic Disney story. Like instead of making her have two step sisters, it’s actually a step sister and brother. I like that the brother isn’t completely on the opposing side. It makes it more realistic for the protagonist to actually win in the end.
Yeah but the song was really offensive I am saying this because I am an Indian and That was a mix of a lot of different cultures namely they mixed Indian, Persian and arab which is offensive and racist

(spoilers ahead) dont get me wrong i love Disney cinderella and the jetlag productions cinderella (it was the first cinderella film I ever saw, I think still have the VHS of it) but Ever After is my all-time favourite cinderella, I just love the character of Danielle, I just love everything about like how near the end despite losing (at least for a bit) the man she loved, her stepmother selling her to that creepy man. Danielle still keeps that fiery spirit of hers which shows when she points a sword at the man and threatens him. I also love what is done to the stepmother and stepsister, its so rare to see them get their just deserts.

I wish it was more widely known outside of like Norway, Germany, Czechia and Slovakia, cause it's truly THE BEST movie about Cinderella ever. The story and the music and the costumes and overall aesthetic of it just makes it so wonderfully magical, while also somehow feeling incredibly down to earth and authentic. Wouldn't feel like Christmas without it.

Fun Fact about the Another Cinderella Story with Selena Gomez! Adrienne Bailon from the Cheetah Girls was actually offered the role of cinderella for that movie, but turned it down because of the boy she was dating & she didn’t want to embarrass herself by continuing her Disney reputation. She has admitted now though that she wishes she didn’t let her pride hold her back.

I know this falls into the category of “really old”, but you really should watch The Slipper and the Rose. It’s a rococo retelling of Cinderella. The design aspects of the movie are GORGEOUS, the prince is given a fun personality, and all of the royals are utterly ridiculous. It’s a fun watch.
Not Cinderella's Type is so good you can tell its low budget like Elle: A Modern Cinderella Story but what it lacked in budget it made up with great storytelling. I loved how it focused more on the psychological issues that would occur if someone were raised like Cinderella and that romance didn't 100% save the day. She still has to work every day to undo all this emotional abuse her family dumped on her
I think I even liked the book ending better! The dad didn't allow Cindy to start dating for a few months so that she had time to heal, which I thought was great! Other than that, I actually think I liked the movie better😅

Rags, the nickelodeon version of Cinderella with Max Schneider is probably my favorite adaptation because of the gender swap, and also because it's just cute and fun to watch. It's so nice to see a change, especially since it came out a decade ago when things were pretty different than they are now

My favorite thing about this movie is that out of every Cinderella movie I’ve watched they actually address the abuse she endures. In Cinderella movies the princess goes through emotional abuse but no one ever addresses that but this movie they did address it which was awesome.

Ella Enchanted is fine, but the book is just SO. DAMN. GOOD. It’s beautiful, Ella is so clever and fun and THEY TOTALLY WHITEWASHED CHAR AND I’LL DIE MAD ABOUT IT. But I definitely recommend you read it.

He's described as having "tawny, curly hair and swarthy skin" like his father; Ella was apparently surprised that he has freckles given his dark complexion. This description is fairly vague like I'm still not sure what race he is could be but yeah maybe he should have been a different race, still like the film though...
The book is so much better in my opinion. I truly wish that they would make the book into a tv show or something, like a miniseries so they could do it justice.

Rogers and Hammerstein is my personal favorite. I just love Brandy's Cinderella, and the song "In My Own Little Corner" is one of my favorites.
I read the Ella Enchanted book last year and it made me love Char and Ella even more than I already did!
Oh my god, I think I watched After the Ball on Netflix or something, like, the year it came out, or maybe the year after, and then completely forgot all about it. But then you described the plot of the stepmother taking over the fashion company thing, and I literally had one of those moments of complete, gobsmacked realization, because I swear I thought I made this movie up.
I didn't even recognize that ella enchanted was a Cinderella story until well into the story. When Ella is talking to char about the glass slipper. I had seen the movie and the things like their names and step parents and fairies were just generic fairytale things. Then I read the book and was like "wait, glass slipper, Ella, prince Charmont, step family. This is Cinderella!" The ball is much closer to Cinderella as well since she was hiding her identity from the prince and there was a pumpkin carriage.
Its definitely one of my favorite takes on the Cinderella story that I wish had a movie/series based on it. I liked the movie of the same the same name but they changed so much that they are basically two different stories with some things in common.
My friends and I had a Cinderella marathon a few years back and you have all of our favorites!

Ella Enchanted was one of my fav movies when I was like 7 and the dvd was my first movie rated age 7 so it was so special to me🥰
My all time favorite would have to be Another Cinderella Story with Selena Gomez. I've lost count of all the times I've re-watched it to be honest.

Not Cinderella’s type was simultaneously bad but also really smart ? The fact they took the normal story and put a clever twist on it was so crazy, it made me think why did nobody ever consider this aspect of the story before

In my opinion I do not find it bad. I was offended. And I'm hardly offended by the rankings that Caitlin has ever does but this time I was sad. I have watched Elle more than 3 times never skipping. I guess I just have horrible taste but I liked the movie. I always come back to rewatch for some weird reason. The movie might be low budget but I like how cheesy it was and I love Elle's best friend relationship with the guy who works in the coffee shop.

I'm actually a little surprised you didn't include Happily N'Ever After, I have a ton of nostalgia for that film. It does feature other fairy tail characters, but Cinderella is the main protagonist, and she's voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar. If you haven't seen it before, you should totally watch it.
not sure if you knew this or not, but Into The Woods was originally a musical on Broadway!! the run time on Broadway was 2 hours 45 minutes (soooo much longer than the movie lol). just thought that would be a nice fun fact if you didn't know already! :)

Camp Rock should be added to this list, it basically copied Cinderella. Shane looking for the girl with the voice, while Prince Charming is looking for the girl who fits the slipper. Mitchie doesn’t fit in in her new environment so she pretends to be rich. Like Cinderella not fitting in her home, and she sorta pretends to be a princess to have a nice night out
Ella enchanted was actually it’s own book (loved it as a kid, the movie does an alright job with the story) but I’m glad that it made it this high onto the list! People forget how good it was!
