Thank you so much. I'm a learner and really appreciate tutorials like this. I really like the fact that you explained what you were doing and why. You also explained why you accessed the files you did and that is really helpful in the learning process. I learn and retain much better when I know why I'm doing something. Also I like the fact the video didn't edit out errors as this is very useful in beginners learning how to troubleshoot.
I'm doing configuring a DNS server on my local network as on of my projects and I like understanding what I'm doing and why , not just blindly following a bunch of tutorials. I've subbed.
After going through 3 videos on DNS configuration and researching th errors I faced, I stumbled upon this video which clearly articulated the configuration in a better manner.
I was able to understand the background related to DNS in more clearly fashion here and it worked.

But resolv.conf entry changes to its default when connected to internet, I've to edit it again disconnecting from internet to make it work.
All I'm trying to do is accessing internet from client (pointing to) via DNS Server which is prepared using your video.

Great video, concise and structured explanations! Do you think you will make a video on how to configure DDNS and DHCP? I know as far as the named.conf file is concerned it's really only changing the allow-update line for each zone but it would still be great to get the whole perspective

I have configured everything like you have shown and no error, the named service is running fine but when I ping ```ns1``` which is the dns server itself, it doesn't work, I also have configured other VM's ```server-01```, ```server-02``` and can't ping any of them

Instead of messing with /etc/resolv.conf you could just have your router assign your dns server as primary for all clients and put google's dns as secondary.

Sir when i go to reslov file and then make changes after that i restart network manager but after that it clear the changes in resolv file and make it file which i have changed.
I am doing an assignment given by my University regarding this, but there is a spot where I cannot go ahead because an error comes always saying "Job for named.service failed because the control process exited with error code. " and "Failed to start Berkeley Internet Name Domain (DNS)" as well. I am hopeless that I will submit this I want your help pls pls pls pls. I have to submit the assignment before 20th of April 11.55 P.M. I am so thankful if you can help me to resolve this. Thank you in advance for a prompt reply.

If i have a 50 clinets then is it necessary to add these clints host name & ip in forward & reverse zone file.My all clients have got ip from DHCP Server.

Good video but just one critisism: why are you putting A records in a reverse lookup zone? Reverse Lookup Zones are for PTR's not A records.

i configured it successfully, thanks to you, but can you explain using 2 different IPs specially the one used for client and desktop. ping is successful for server but unsuccessful for desktop and client. i am a begginer so can't understant that concept. thanks
Update the resolv.conf file on desktop and client with DNS server ip
Hiiieee when I am pinging from server with the command (ping server & ping host ) it showing error message as Name or service not known.
Check the resolv.conf file or watch the video again as I have shown all steps
