    I have been researching and watching a ton of videos on using alcohol inks on Gelli Plates. Your video is the first, and only so far😉, that actually produces a nice lift.
    I have learned that the hand sanitizer gel is a must in order to allow the alcohol inks to work their magic. You are the only one that I've seen use the lifting pad on stamps to create the texture. That makes perfect sense!!
    With each video, I l learn a tiny bit more. I am very thankful that you provided this video. It's the first one that I watched fully....your video was great.
    I can't wait to see what other things I can learn from you😉

      Hi Megan, hope you're well. Wow - thank you for your encouraging comment that couldn't have come at a better time!! After a hectic work schedule, I have been quiet on my channel for nearly a year but my aim is to get back into making tutorials again from next week. So thanks for giving me even more enthusiasm. The gel plate is an amazing thing and can seem intimidating to some...same as alcohol inks. I have to admit I hated the inks when I first started using them but experimenting is key. It's definitely all about texture for me so trying out different media on the plate is exciting and satisfying. I do hope you continue to get more inspiration...my new videos will be focusing on gel plate, alcohol inks and Lavinia stamps and keeping your Art mojo close by. Have a fantastic day and hope you get some creative time X

    I’ve never seen this technique before and am very happy to have found this. Been working with gelli plates and will try this tomorrow. Thanks so much for sharing with us. I’m surprised you haven’t had more hits. If you intend to make more recordings please don’t be discouraged, you have a sweet personality and good ideas. If you ask for thumbs up then you’ll have more hits. God bless you - Cheers from the southwest of US. 💖

      Diana, thank you so much for your kind words. They really made me smile and inspired me to get back in the Art Room. I love making gel plate videos but as you know, sometimes life can be so hectic and taking the time out is hard but I am hoping I will soon be able to get back into some sort of routine with putting videos out there. I will definitely take your advice about the thumbs up. Thanks again and hoping to get some new ideas for you real soon. Take care. Gail - the Midlands, UK xx

    For the crafters who are not aware - you should definitely mention that the alcohol ink must dry before applying the lift ink

      Good point for the really clear lift but I have used it on semi-dry before and quite liked the effect. I do like to experiment though and it works OK with the foam stamps slightly wet but I definitely agree on clear Stamps it could cause problems wet. Even more experimenting needed I think. Thanks for pointing that out xx

    I like the ethereal effect of the negative images. The first botanical print using the cling foam stamps reminded me of sea creatures, corals etc. Lovely colours too.

      I like your description, ethereal is a great way to describe them and I think your right the colours do lend themselves well to an underwater scene. Xx

    Exciting, need to try ….. but will the alcohol inks be ok on clear stamps? Or is it just a case of cleaning them after?

    • @gailjuliemakes
      @gailjuliemakes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Fi, I think foam ones are best as I think the Alcohol inks may damage polymer ones. You would have to get them cleaned super quick. Good question though so I'll give it a go and let you know. Xx

    That is really cool! Could you pick up with a piece of Mylar? Then you could turn it over & the words & numbers would be right! (I guess the only problem with Mylar is that it's non-porous. It would probably make a mess! But could you dry it?!!)

      Interesting idea...but I think it would be very messy and would just push the ink around rather than actually removing (lifting) it...if that makes sense. It would probably be difficult to get more defined marks that way possibly too. If you give it a try, let me know. 🙌

    Hi , what paper do you use please

    • @gailjuliemakes
      @gailjuliemakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Toni, I tend to use cardstock that is at least 300gsm, usually multifarious card that is 330gsm if u can because I like to use lots of different mediums in my final piece so it needs to be able to withstand a lot. I also like to print onto rice paper for collage work. I hope that helps. Gail x
