The market you’re talking about, is the Player 2 series, which Fender recently released. They are in between the budgets and the high end Fenders. I have 2 of them, a Blueburst HSS Strat with a fantastic Maple neck, and a very nice Player 2 Tele British Racing Green, (Rosewood neck), that I bought from GC, when they were both on sale. I have the original Player Strats also, and after some tweaking, they’ll play nice as well. I have an American Professional 2 Strat, and I love it for sure, but my Player 2 Strat neck feels just as nice, for half the money.
I mean, how often do you want them to re-design their entire catalog? They just released the Player II series like 6 months ago, the Ultra II 3 months ago, and now a whole new line and a few additions to the American Vintage line...that feels like a lot within half a year to me.
Quit bitching about the u-shape neck just cuz you don't like it. It's supposed to be vintage and thats what they were. They need MORE variation in their neck profiles, not lame "modern C" on everything.
Personally, I dont like the modern C. Back in 2001 I bought a brand new American vintage reissue 52 tele and loved that guitar and neck. The best playing tele I have ever played I am going to buy this new white one.
@@rockdanger haha, sorry, I was just telling my personal preferences. Didn’t meant to phrase it “who wants those”. I agree they’re great for those who love them. I just wish they would come out with the same nitro Tele with a thin neck, and it doesn’t need to be vintage. Just make a nitro American professional iii
I'm with you! I don't care for a U shape neck either but I love the esthetics and sound of a 50s guitar. Sadly, because I have small hands, I am completely excluded from any 50s style guitar. When they had the 50s modified strats, I could handle it. 60s, I'm good. But 50s, not so much.
@@MelodyCarroll-rx8tk bummer! I feel exactly the same. I’m selling a 50s Tele Partscaster on Reverb with a modified 50s neck, not because it’s not great but because I’m just getting a Stratocaster with a 50s soft V. Anything but the big baseball bats :-)
I figured they'd for sure update items on this last winter sale. As someone who just purchased the Mustang GTX 100 a couple weeks ago, I'm selfishly glad they didn't.
Super surprised / disappointed they didn't launch new Vintera II RoadWorn series... thought that was definitely gonna happen... maybe later this summer!
What bothers me. The Acoustasonic Standards have Rosewood, and seemingly the same Shawbuckers as the Mexican Acoustasonic...the Fender Standards get Laurel and Ceramic pickups...and they are the same price. 😬.
I do like the 1965 American Vintage additions. I'm in the market for a really nice guitar, the 61 strats caught my eye but that Sonic Blue is on my shortlist. Can't decide whether to go Mod Shop, American Vintage or maybe buy an SG instead. I was waiting for NAMM to see if they would do anything to the Pro II line that might interest me. Maybe that's a few month's down the road still. As for the Standard line, I feel they are basically Squier Classic Vibes with the Fender name. The colors are awfully similar and the specs are about the same. Classic Vibes were already really great guitars for the price, seems odd they would put out a product in roughly the same price range to compete against each other, unless they were planning on discontinuing the CV series in the future.
I am interested the new Marshall pedals but they have only been demo'd through a Marshall amp and the price is horrendous for a "Marshall in a box" pedal....
@@stoneyroberts9118 sorry I phrased that the way I did! Maybe you’re in a small group, but everyone likes what they like. It’s not my preference, but I didn’t mean to say it like chunky neck lovers are crazy. My bad!
@@SteveGuitar It's fine man. I love really bulky necks and the tint, but hey that's all personal preference. Everyone likes different things and that's what's amazing about guitars in general.
1) If an original vintage Strat has a U neck, than of course their vintage reissues are going to have a U neck. Duh. Is it niche? Perhaps. But that's the point of the series. Don't like it? Don't buy it. 2) It makes ZERO difference what material your pickup magnet material is made of. Zero. A magnetic field is a magnetic field. The reason ceramic magnets have a bad reputation is that budget manufacturers, in an effort to save money, gauss the magnets to be very very strong so they can use less wire. This is why many ceramic pickups sound brash and harsh. If the ceramic magnet is gaussed to match an alnico II, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two magnets. As such, I'll reserve judgement if the Standard pickups being ceramic is a negative. 3) Fender has addressed the lower midrange. It's called the Player II. No, they weren't released at NAMM, but it was only 6 months ago that they were. Fender isn't ignoring anyone, they just aren't keeping your traditional release cycle.

And even the American Vintage II series was released almost 3 years ago. The industry and also the people need to chill the feck out.

Thank-you for not mispronouncing "NICHE"
@@bobbyfeatherstone2834 hahaha, did I really though? My kids made fun of me recently for how I say it.
I think he’s being facetious, your pronunciation is completely wrong (no offence!)
I like and perfer the 7.25 radius
Me too!
Yes, very disappointing! Where is the 1950/2025 Broadcaster/Telecaster 75th Anniversary?
They cant keep on upgrading their models as it just destroys the value of previous models/ranges......
How is this going effect the second hand market ?
The only exciting thing at NAMM this year was Sire Guitars, the new Peavey amp and preamp pedals, and the MXR 80’s pedal.
Yeah, Sire has gone crazy with their lineup - I was amazed at the variety.
I am interested the new Marshall pedals but they have only been demo'd through a Marshall amp and the price is horrendous for a "Marshall in a box" pedal....
Oh look a new fender blues junior ! And for this year, we increased the price $400+ .
I agree completely. Any strat who's weight starts with an eight is not great.
Guess I’m considered the small group that likes chunky necks and actually find it odd that that most seem to be happy with regular C.

$1k for a blues junior is kind of insane. I can build an amp that will last longer and sound better for close to that.
The whole standard line since they came out were ceramic pickups and they just released the player II series a few months ago
I dint know about a "Made in Indo" Standard. I think the higher end Squiers have better parts. Do they make an affordable Made in USA model anymore?
I love big necks and I can not lie! I like the Orange necks too.

Fender releases new stuff mid year all the time. Who says they need to wait for Namm?
Yeah many of us like chunky necks. Thats why we by 50's inspired guitars.
