  • Being a volunteer on the SS Freshspring is a rewarding way to dive into history and be part of something truly special. Volunteers get hands-on with the ship’s restoration and upkeep, learning about maritime engineering, traditional skills, and the ins and outs of this unique vessel. They can also be a part of the stewarding team, welcoming people on to the ship or engaging with others in the community and spreading the word.
It’s a chance to work alongside like-minded people, sharing a passion for preserving history, while building new skills and making a tangible impact on a Nationally Important vessel.
Volunteers also enjoy a strong sense of community-there’s a camaraderie in working together each week, and everyone’s efforts go a long way in keeping the Freshspring open and accessible for future generations. Plus, volunteers can bring their own skills and interests into the mix, whether it’s in guiding tours, helping with events, or even working on our educational programs.
