I was watching the marina camera when you left I think, I saw you leave, the boat looked great. Watching it now, there's a guy fishing on the end of the walkway waiting for him to catch a fish lol just love watching the marina for some strange reason lol great cruise for your first one :)
Thanks for the ride along. It was nice to see the view from at the bottom of a lock and pulling out. Also the nice spiral-like brickwork under the bridge. Hope you’re both having a fab time.
Hi Madison! Thanks - yes, the view from a lock is quite something. In next week's video, you'll see a bit more of locks, as I filmed myself doing one single handed. Janet is here this weekend and we had a nice cruise today - her dad came along and had a go at driving too!😁😁😁
Thanks Phil! Don't worry, there will be lots of cock us to show you - I don't claim to know what I'm doing, and each day is a new adventure when handling the boat! But filming and trying to do a mooring in the marina is quite a challenge. I find mooring up in the marina stressful enough without worrying about camera angles etc. Hang in there though - there'll be plenty for you to laugh at in the future! Ah yes, the opening section of Crazy Diamond is priceless - the guitar tone he gets is simply fabulous 😁
Morning Jeff, or should I say Mr Molehusband?! Never fear re driving Gladys, everyone has to learn & get used to it, eventually you'll do it without thinking it'll come so naturally. Nice video, Gladys looks just as good as expected especially in the sun. I can't work out where the solar panels are, please elucidate. Also hope you have the chimney cowl somewhere safe as it was sitting loose on the roof in some shots & nowhere to be seen in others. Congratulations to Janet for looking like she's always driven a narrowboat - you look more confident than you sound too. Big thumbs up from me, so good to be seeing the world from Gladys's point of view.
Hah - Reginald Molehusband - that takes me back Annie! We've been out today, Janet brought her dad to see the boat, and we had a 4 hour cruise, and happy to say that I parked Gladys AOK when we came back to the marina!👍 The solar panel is about 2 thirds down the boat towards the front - not a huge one, just designed to trickle some charge to the batteries. I was lucky with the cowl - I keep it inside now in windy weather or when Gladys goes out - as there are so many low hanging branches. I also have a cap to cover the chimney-hole on roof, if I want to remove the whole thing and keep rain out. I'll be fitting that when I leave the marina in a weeks time. Thanks for the comment about Janets driving - she is better than me at many things!😁
@Gladysthenarrowboat Sounds like you're having a good time altogether & well done that man parking tidy. I wondered if that was the solar panel, obviously sufficient for your needs. Having seen a chimney or two go west under bridges I'm glad yours has alternatives to keep it safe. Haha re Janet doing some things better than you, I was ace at reverse parking hubby's Cortina yonks ago, rather better than he was..... 🤭
@@anniemac3075 Thanks Annie! Blimey - a Ford Cortina, that takes me back! Oh, Janet is so much better parking a car than I am... and I tend to obsess with parking precisely between the white lines in car parks... she just drives straight in perfectly every time!

You mustn't call me a great vlogger Jeff- its not the case at all, and my ego is already out of control since I was filmed by that TV crew at New Mills!
