I was looking to hear that masterpiece and i try many today in YT , but not satisfy.
But with him, i found the perfect harmony, subtility, emotion.
Most of the poeple who play it focus too much on the technical part and they have not enough subtility. But that man, he is beyond technical skills then he really can give us the soul of that masterpiece. He make one with the guitar and the music.

I agree but it's not a song, it's a musical piece.
Many play it this slow or slower and don't match this level of expression. Speed has little to do with it, but I guess that's what untrained ears find easier to detect.

Everybody told me to listen to Narciso Yepes playing this. But I was totally horrified by his version! He sounded like he had a plane to catch or something. This is great - second for me after John Williams.

La dolcezza delle carezze a queste corde meravigliose, il tempo subdolo e pacato, i sospiri che ne crea con le sue dita, ci raccontano di un amore perduto del quale ci restano solo i tristissimi ricordi.
Il suo “deliver” e talmente delicato e pieno di tante emozioni che fa sorgere indizi di lacrime agli occhi. Talvolta ci renderà più felici nel sapere che un nostro proprio amore resta con noi e ci rende meno vulnerabili alla tristezza e alla malinconia.

I used to play this, at least try to play it. I have listened to over 100 of the finest guitarists in the world playing this. Pablo Sáinz-Villegas's performance is simply the best that I have ever heard. What a pleasure to listen and enjoy.

I played this piece back in the 70’s in college, it was difficult to master it, this is the best performance on TH-cam, slower than all the others yet more powerful and emotional !
Mesmerizing - I didnt even blink with my eyes!
I saw him perform at Segerstrom Center for the Arts about two years ago. Needless to say, the entire concert was amazing. What made it memorable for me was when he played this piece and dedicated it to a member of the orchestra who had just passed away. It was very touching and emotional, but at the same time, very beautiful and magical.
Still this is my favorite version, it makes me stop and think about my life, and the tears want to flow. Beautiful performance.
I am impressed, and I have seen Segovia in person. Such beauty is sorely needed these days. Thank you!

Pablo knows by heart the correct cadence, pace and the emotional tone and understanding that I believe Tarrega intended to deliver when he composed this song.

Cogliere la poesia e l'anima di uno spartito è prerogativa e dote dei grandi maestri.
Non basta la tecnica, occorre calarsi nello spirito della composizione e sapere rendere vive le aspettative del compositore.

Existen en la actualidad guitarristas extraordinarios, con gran dominio técnico de su instrumento. Pero con Pablo Sainz sucede algo diferente. Pablo trasciende su instrumento, que deja de ser el protagonista y lo convierte en parte suya, para establecer un coloquio entre su alma y la nuestra. Y podemos visualizar un encuentro entre Pablo, Tarrega, sus guitarras y solo cada uno de nosotros, mirando y sintiendo La Alhambra. Una experiencia única, que llega y acaricia el alma y nos llena de emociones. Felicitaciones Maestro! Como usted existen muy pocos y ninguno en su nivel interpretativo!

I have been to Alhambra spending a most beautiful 2hours wandering around this most beautiful place on earth, this music you perform beautifully here and viewing 2 of my favourite photos from that day, bring sweet memories flooding back, it was after a shower of rain and the sun was shining again, making the whole place look so Vibrant 👍😉

This piece to play at this exposed pace takes such a lot of good control and expertise. Even John Williams rushes it. What are memories on a hot day at the Alhambra? Slowly, meandering through the myriad of thoughts. The fountain trickling its soft flow. Falling into the feeling.....Of course, you could increase the rate of flow then we have the fast cascades of the general playing of the professional guitarists. What do you feel like today? Nice to THIS beautiful choice.
