- A beginners video on how to change the gearbox oil in a BMW R1100RT. If you have been too intimidated to work on your own BMW motorcycle, this is a great way to start. It is easy to do and will allow you to perform some general maintenance.
Man, turn your autofocus off!! Focus on the bike and leave it there.
great tip about the diverter for the oil but next time move the camera to the screens right.
nice video. I will change my transimission fluid today.
Nice video, and thanks for sharing! By the way, it's an "original" BMW piece of cardboard, so... it's ok... :)
What I saw was your arm. Horrible camera.
I saw the shirt sleeve. kkk
Always remove your fill bolt first. If your drain bolt is stuck your screwed.
there is death vader somewhere around him.....))))
Another good, easy to understand video. However, you incorrectly specified the tightening torque for the drain at 30 Nm. Not sure what the Haynes manual calls for, but according to the factory service manual for the R1100RT, the tightening torque for both the fill AND drain plugs is 23 Nm.
good video. i never thought of making a trough for the oil. i ended up spending a hout cleaning up the oil mess in the past
Another great video. Maybe on future videos give the ft-lb conversion for the 99% of the rest of us who use ft-lbs and/or who's torque wrenches don't show NM's. But for those out there I went online and converted. 30nm=22 ft-lbs. 23nm=17ft-lbs.
My R1100RT has a whining 2 gear is this normal, and does it mean its going to break.
cheers
Thanks appreciate you taking the time to show us how it's done.
You said 200 and 300 crush washer, do you know what this is in millimetre size,
Norman Butler 14mm and 18mm
Thanks very much. Great video
