  • The unboxing of 4 sealed sets I got recently from a US seller for a good price! I learned some more about part variants from opening these sets, and it was so cool to let these pieces out of the box for the first time in 30+ years.

Really cool to see these opened. Old lego boxes have a charm the new ones haven't. Thanks for showing us this!

I really missed out on the Lego outlet. There was one about 1.5 hours from me but it was in a direction we never went. I heard of deals there after the fact. Never realized they were still packaging these in the 90s

Thanks for the comment! I actually don't think they released these sets in the US, which is why I find it so interesting that these ones somehow got over here.

Wow they look immaculate. I think I should start getting some supplemental accessories as well, as I already have 2 supplemental locomotives and 2 trains. But only 2 ovals of tracks.

Yep, amazing to see the condition, even knowing they were sealed. I highly recommend getting some accessories, the points and signals are very unique!

Great sets, some real gems there. Like the late point packaging. Have to watch the cables with the polystyrene packaging they eat into the polystyrene and it can be difficult to scrape off your cables

I also recently bought a whole lot of 12 volt train stuff from LEGO. This also included the 7862. It can disconnect automatically. But where are you going to apply this? I have seen a layout of yours that you also use. What's the best place?

Usually on a stub-end siding to store wagons. I also put other sidings next to it for a switchyard where I can swap around engines.

Has anyone faced a case when the old 12V track sleepers had become oddly fragile after decades of storage and has anyone found out any solutions for that ?

go back to 2 x 8 flat plates of 1960s which were white with blue rails but can get dark grey colour same as 1980s sleepers and last a lifetime

I have a question, I recently bought the 7740 passenger Train as my first 12v set and I don’t really know what to do now.
I was thinking about expanding the track and getting a pair of points to make a siding but I don’t know if that is the right choice.
What do you think I should do?

I would definitely buy a pair of points! Electric points are awesome and in my opinion one of the things that makes the Grey Era unique.
