How do you do vibrato? And how do you do high notes without making a really nasty sound? UGHHHH so good.
I can only do vibrato in minors and thats very rare that i ever do. Oh for high notes, the higher of the Es on the stave can be hard to get a good tone on because of the way the key are positioned so if you can get a good tone on that i would use that 'technique' on high nots cause it works for me.
To accomplish vibrato you use your diaphragm. Practice it by doing scales. Play each note long and with the biggest sound you can get, widen your embouchure, and doing the best vibrato that you can do. It's kind of hard to explain it over text. If you don't have a teacher, TH-cam is a great source of information. See if Sir James Galway (one of the greatest flautist in the world) has any tips on his channel or in a recording of a masterclass for it that might help you. Also with the high notes and getting a good tone. Blow faster air, littler hole, and aim your airstream towards the ground. The higher the note, the smaller the hole, the lower the note the wider and if you drop your jaw they will come out easier. I hope I helped a little. :)

That's racist. As an Asian with like a lot of Asian American friends, I an assure you none of my friends practice for more than 30 minutes per day and a lot of them quit after some time. I am the only person who even practices an hour. Personally unless you have some really controlling parents they don't even bother.

Btw, would you say it is hard, in comparison to other instruments such as piano/violin, to reach a relative degree of proficiency with the flute? I know the instruments cannot be compared like that, but if you were to give an advise to a person who wants to learn flute, but can dedicate around 3 hours per week, is it worth the go?
