    Introduction to Heping Pawnshop:
Heping Pawnshop was financed and built by shareholders such as Huang Runhe, Li Luozong, Yuan Ziwen, and Huang Yicai. It cost 30,000 taels of silver and used 180,000 blue bricks. It was once known as "the most luxurious pawnshop in Guangzhou". It is currently the most complete and largest pawnshop site discovered in Guangdong Province.
Pinghe Pawnshop faces east and west, and consists of a shop, a warehouse, and north and south side courtyards, covering an area of 1,003.38 square meters. The front hall is a business shop, covering an area of 260 square meters. The warehouse is built in the shape of a watchtower, covering an area of 208 square meters, with 6 floors and a total of 26.62 meters, used to store pawned items. The building is as solid as a rock, and the defense measures are very comprehensive, providing the greatest security for pawned items.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Pinghe Pawnshop was nationalized and used as a Junhe grain and oil purchasing and sales station for a long time. In 2003, it was discovered during the fourth cultural relics survey in Guangzhou, thus unveiling its mysterious veil. In December 2008, the former site of Pinghe Pawnshop was selected as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangzhou. In 2011, Baiyun District invested nearly 10 million yuan to protect and repair the former site of Pinghe Pawnshop, and opened it as a district folk culture museum. In April 2019, the Pinghe Pawnshop Site (including the hexagonal pavilion) was selected as the ninth batch of cultural relics protection units in Guangdong Province.
Today, Pinghe Pawnshop has become a popular cultural attraction in Baiyun District, attracting many tourists to visit. Here, tourists can learn about the history of pawnshops in China, feel the historical changes of Junhe Market, and appreciate the miniature landscape of representative historical buildings in Baiyun District.
