    I just saw your review because I bought a lodge bread pan from cabellas. Mines is about 1 in smaller in size than yours. You are right that there is not many making cast iron here in the states. I like to buy American made too. I've raised my kids and now I am fulfilling my dream of building my dream cast iron cooking arsenal. Sadly that happens to be LeCreuset. But I own many pieces of lodge cast iron that I have collected over the years and I love every one of them. I love the ceramic coated pots and I tried one from an American made company and it works ok but after a few years it is clear that it won't last to be passed down to my daughters. The funny thing is that the two of them don't give a damn about jewelry! They are however in talks about who gets what with my cast iron, lol! That includes the lodge (because they have memories of family meals created in them) and they have already figured out who gets what and I'm not even dead yet hahaha! Thanks for the review! I also got a pie pan and looking forward to making something in it! I'm hoping my loaf breads brown well in this pan.

      I just received my order of 3 of these pans today. I can’t wait to break these puppies in. Just need to get some yeast & powdered milk.

    this loaf pan is also good for frying fish using a lot less oil that you would use in a regular frying pan.

    Have 2 of these for breads and also love the smaller size ,it just makes store in fresh bread much easier . Great cooking vessel

    Can you really break cast iron by dropping it on the driveway? That would be astounding. Thanks for the review. I'm going to go look for one today. I have 8 pieces of Lodge already, including a dutch oven just for baking no-knead boules, and this loaf pan is a good addition.

      Definitely. Cast iron is incredibly brittle. That’s why it’s so thick!

      @@yourmomssecret I did a beer bread recipe and it turned out pretty good. It came out of the loaf pan easy. Good luck and enjoy.

    I got this loaf pan not too long ago. I know I want at least one more.
    But now stupid stay at home has everyone buying up flour and yeast and other baking supplies. Been making dough in my bread machine and baking in the oven for a couple decades. I planned to make a lot of rye and pumpernickel in these loaf pans. But even Amazon has let me down for supplies.
    Thankfully, Lodge takes care of me. My order from them has shipped! You can bet I buy my cast iron directly from them more often.
    But I still need rye and wheat flour. I think I will order from King Arthur like I used to.

    AT 2:53 on your video, the deepness or height of your pan is 3.25 inches and not 2.5 or 2.75 inches as you said.

    • @wisconsinGreg
      @wisconsinGreg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just measured it again and it's 2.75" measured from top to base on table or approximately 2.50" from top to inside bottom. It doesn't measure 3.25". This video was made some time ago maybe Lodge changed it's dimensions or the 3.25" is the box size?

    Lodge all the way, holy cow, in Canada I paid $48.00 per pan!! If you do get started with your own bread I sure recommend Peter Reinhart’s book Artisan Breads Every Day!

    I like to make bread from scratch, starting with grinding the wheat.
    These pans are destined to give birth to some delicious cornbread and perhaps some monkey bread in the near future. 😁😋
