Love videos like this, really shows how all the tackle companies catch the angler. Simple effective rigs , without 12 specifically designed components.
I've just learnt something new about match fishermen. i never realised they are so rough, for want of a better word with the fish! so to them it's about the money before the care of the fish? great video, never being fishing for pike or zander! It's something id like to try,as the river near me(the tees)is meant to be full of them.
Well said mate- what a bunch of cnuts - thing is - they are the ones that (apparently) chuck pike and zander in the bushes to die -I think Graham found a pike in the reeds or hedge on one his canal sessions . On the other hand , might be a good idea to stick to dead baits and quit using roach etc as live baits . Whatever , glad you raised the point , tight lines bud .
+Glenn Spray Made from cutting up the plastic spines of old note books.Very old school. We used this method 40 years ago.You can pinch shot on the edge of the plastic for extra weight.
Would it make sense to use something like a bolt rig, seeing how zander feed more tentatively than a species like pike for example? I use 40 gram (1.4 ounce) gripper leads with a ball of groundbait around it in combination with a helicopter-style short braided hooklength with a hair rig for most of my fishing (tench, bream, carp), but seeing this, I just wondered if I could just use the same tactics for zander merely by switching corn, pop-ups and boilies for pieces of popped-up roach and slow-sinking fake crayfish.
great tricks.. Do you have the same expierence as I have, that when weather conditions are good, in combination with full moon or new moon you get real feeding frenzies? Cheers from the Netherlands
💂🏻♂️⭐️🎩☃️⭐️🥃 There’s been a big decline in invasive species such as Dutch Zander and Red belly piranha, Arapraima and tiger fish. And a big swing to huge UK pike and the more yellow uk Zander and rainbow uk Zander, big UK Hybrid perch. So now I only like very small trout for uk predator fishing due to the species swing
An 8 pound zander will take a 25 cm roach (or 10'') with ease... for the smaller more common fish the 10-15 cm fish are best, they gulp those in fast so no need to wait long.. I catch 15-20 inch zander all day on a 4'' shad over here... On a lake like this I guess using a 4-5 gram zanderfloat would be best... u can fish more active this way (much like the active float fishing for pike video, just with smaller floats (and no steel leaders). Also use a size 2 hook, u get a lot better hookset with those... (these hooks are seriously small).
+Iain Day Kind of the same as with the Perch, very similar fish but not the exact same species. Walleye and Zander, Yellow Perch and European Perch... But the European counterparts grows bigger in both cases.
Old bury hill is indeed becoming a syndicate water as I read in both the Angling Times and Angler's Mail. Shame they will no longer accept day tickets. On a different note, not all match anglers are like this, I am a member of two different clubs, we treat our fish with the utmost care when unhooking, placing in the net, putting them back etc. This behaviour is not atypical of all match fisherman.
That was exactly why i hate match fisherman. On my the state of the fish's mouths is disgusting. Where match fisherman just rush and rip the hooks out. Terrible

I generally like the new moon over the full moon, but I reckon it might affect different species in various ways.
I need to find a new style of fishing because my local canal is dead at this time of year :(
Will P where do you live because I know a good canal to fish
Looong. Respect.,
Raps oil?

use the fish frozen on the hook no problem
I had no idea Jimmy Hill's chinless brother was a fisherman. You shouldn't have tried to steal Sonichu bra

Peter Walker yes I agree on canals if you catch a zander during a match you have to kill them which I think it totally wrong
Peter Walker oiiii
Time to ban win by weight - switch to number of fish caught -no keepnets allowed , and barbless hooks only .
