Well done ...nice paint job and good explanation ..far better then half the plastic benders on here ....as to your question ! I would say the black flock is just burnt grass .do a crash site .
Beautiful work on the Hercules! I built the 1/72 MPC (reboxed Airfix, I later learned) C-130 kit long ago, in U.S. Coast Guard colors. Painting was applied by spray & brush. I masked & brush painted the red fuselage stripe near the front, with thick paint that I tried to thin during application, with only moderately dissatisfying results. My older brother (being a much more experienced modeler than I was) reviewed my paintwork, & said " I think we have to send you back to painting school"-lol! I'd still like to build another C-130 some day, but with the patience I have now, that I lacked then. I've ridden in them a number of times on military trips.
@@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft For long trips, yes, those would be tiresome, I believe. I never had to ride in a C-130 for more than around 1- 1.25 hours per trip. Otherwise, flown C-17 "airlines" or civilian airline for military trips.
As for the Optivisors: My arms are also increasingly too short. I found that for modeling work reading glasses that are a few dioptries too strong do wonders. Allows you to get really up close, and magnify a little. I found them to be easier to use than the twin loupes. And they are dirt cheap, too.
I have the same problem as you with vision and I have that same magnifier. I found that the ear pieces were a bit pinchy so I added some moleskin to the ends. They’ve been a huge help.
I was in Afghanistan in 2014. FOB Shank in Logar Province, and we had a Hilux too! Damn fun vehicles!

I think riding in them is an acquired taste, most people seem to dislike it quite a bit!

I virtually can't work without them now, I find the rubber grips on the arms pull my hair out, so I might try your tip - thanks!
