  • M81 is a popular target for both visual astronomers and backyard astrophotographers. In this video I attempt to image galaxy M81 using a Vixen telescope, QHY cooled cmos camera and special filter from Optolong. To see the final image skip to the end. I've also included a blooper this time!

    Special thanks to KWtelescope.com for lending me the Vixen VC200L for galaxy season!

    Nice video once again! Image is great ... again. Wish I could get more sky time but Northern Ontario is still mostly cloudy rain, snow and just yuck... so opportunities are slim. Your videos are filling the vacancy . Well done Shawn..

    Great video once again. I am your fan. You seem to be achieving a fraction of an arcsecond guiding. Please could I request you for the guide log? I'd love to see it. I use an HEQ5-PRO (to be belt modded soon) and my total without dithering is usuaully 1.2". TIA. Brillaing image by the way :)

    Just found your channel. Great content! And lovely image! I just bought a VC200L and am finding it hard to balance as it is quite back heavy. It looks like you are much further up the tube than I was. Did it balance ok? Still looks pretty back-heavy. I am jsut trying to see what else I might need to properly mount. Thanks! And clear skies!

    Shawn, I'd love to see how much of a difference you see at 5 hrs, 10 hrs, 15 hrs, 20 hrs. Is it worth adding the time. It would make a great video!

    Hi nice video, congratulations. Can you explain to me why you mount the anti-condensation band? Isn't the Vixen an open system?

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro  ปีที่แล้ว

      The idea was to help reduce condensation on the secondary. Whether it worked or not I don't know. Never used it without. 😆

    Always a scope on my list, something about it. Any issues installing the autofocuser on the stock focus block? I have an ZWO EAF

    What autofocuser do you use?
