Q: Will the paint wear out?
A: Like all clothing with print/paint, it probably will over time. The best thing to do is just paint over the worn out paint. If you don't want it to wear out, avoid washing it. I know that sounds kind of gross but if you don't get it dirty, you won't have to wash it!
I've only washed mine once since the time i made this video and its fine.
Q: Where did you get your hoodie?
A: I bought it at Fred Meyers.
Q: Where did you get the paint?
A: Walmart.
Q: What paint did you use?
A: ACRYLIC!
Q: Is it okay to wash it?
A: Yes, its perfectly fine. Acrylic paint is water proof so it should be fine.
Q: Where did you get the template?
A: I made it myself! There's two versions. Check the top of the description.
Q: Can you use any coat/method besides paint?
A: It depends on the material of your hoodie and what method you're using to make the face. Fabric Markers would bleed if you used a hoodie with water resistant or shiny/smooth material for instance. Also, if you prefer to use a vest, jacket, coat, or pretty much any type of clothing, you can use that. This is just a tutorial on how to make the design of the face. You dont have to follow everything step by step.
Q How long do i let each layer of paint dry?
A: About 10-20 mins. Depends on how thick your layer is. Also let the paint sit for about 2-3 days. (DO NOT wash it during that time.)
Q: Do you have to use this color of hoodie?
A: No. You can choose any color you want. I chose green 'cause i felt like it.
Q: Can anyone do this?

I think it depends on what kind of brands you use. Name brands will cost more. For me, it roughly came around $40 because i used an Addidas jacket. The paint and paintbrushes were from Walmart and the jacket was from Fred Meyers.
If you worry about using acrylic paint, you can get a fabric medium to mix into it. The medium turns it into fabric paint! However, acrylic paint doesn't wash out of fabric, so I've gone with straight acrylic paint many times, and it holds up nicely.

Fabric paint is a type of paint specifically made for fabric pretty much. You can use it on cotton, linen, silk, etc. Haha, no problem, it's not akward at all. xD And to be honest, it depends on how many times you wash it. Pretty much everything you wash wears out after awhile. I think the best thing to do is try to keep it as clean as possible without washing it. I hope that helped a bit.
Thanks for the tutorial, loving my matryoshka hoodie! Also printing paper got wet to fast for me to use it as a guide. To anybody out there who hasn't made one yet card stalk works better printing paper.
oh, its okay! It doesn't matter what shade. I just grabbed black and white paint and it happened to be in those shades. And no, i didn't use sequins. x) Thats the shade it was in. I hope that helps.
Ugh I dont have the patience, skills, or anything else to do this but it looks sooooo GOOD.

i made one yesterday after seeing this.. i went to fred meyers couldnt find fabric paint but i used acrylic and my hoodie is black and it looks nice. thanks for the tutorial!
Miku has a green one (It's not really a hoodie though, but if you wanted to I'm sure you can have a hoodie for her.), Gumi has a red hoodie (I've seen her with black though.), Rin & Len have a yellow one, and Kaito has a blue one (Miku, Kaito, and Rin or Len don't really have a hoodie. It's more of a sports jacket.). I hope this helped you somewhat. :)

It really depends on what color of paint you're using. If you're using a black on a black or a pink on a pink, thats not such a good idea. And when you do pick a coat, make sure you put a few layers of paint on it so it stands out more. So, put on a layer, wait for it to dry, then add another coat. Repeat till the color is to your liking. I hope that answers your question.

to all those asking if it should be on both sides. if you watch the PV it shows the half of the face on both sides so I would recommend you do it on both sides
Well looks like you gave an art project to do. I will go buy the hoody and paint then print out the thingy. Also the end results looks AMAZING.

I made my own hoodie for a cosplay , and i didnt trace or anything. it turned out pretty good.
I don't know if you got these yet.. But Miku is Green, Gumi is Red, Rin and Len are BOTH yellow, and Kaito is a very dark blue. Hope this helps. c:

Is it me or was i the only one really thinking of paying some1 like 60 dollars for a jacket i can buy at walmart for like 10 dollars and just get paint!?!? And i can do it myself! Omg thank you!! You open my eyes!!!

acrylic works good,but try for Fabric paints,they would last longer.
if u use tempra it would flake off most likely

Yep. You can use whatever you want. You dont have to use paint. Ive seen others use fabric markers, felt, and iron ons.

Well, im not sure since i havent washed it yet. But i heard it cracks, so instead of using Acrylic, its recommended that you use Fabric paint. Fabric paint can be washed without damage or cracking. I made the mistake by using Acrylic. Sorry about that.

Yeah, you're right. That's why I had to put a few coats of paint on it. It took me a good hour, hour and a half to paint it all. It wasnt that bad.

It should come out just fine. The only thing to remember is to wait 2 - 3 days after painting, just to let the paint set.
You might wanna do it on parchment paper, then iron it down onto the hoodie to make it easier
You know, im not sure if there's anything official for anyone other than Miku (green hoodie) and Gumi (red hoodie). Search "matryoshka vocaloid" on Google images and see if you can find something on there. I've seen Rin and Len having black, yellow, or blue hoodies and Kaito having a blue or red hoodie.
I tired making my hoodie this way yesterday but it really failed so I cut out all the pieces in felt and sewed them on soon I will post a video on my channel of it!

Even though it's not part of Miku's outfit(she wears a track jacket, not a hoodie), you can probably do that if you want. And I think it would be best if you painted both sides, so it doesn't look funny when you're done.

You could just use fabric marker its waaaay easier and it comes out nice too
I just made circles around the eyes? I figured dots are easy to make so i didn't bother explaining how to do those. The template, i haven't been able to do yet because my computer has a virus. It'll probably be done by late April/early May at the latest.

she wears a green zip up jacket with white cuffs and two white strips down the sides :P although, i want to do a Miku Matroyoshka cosplay, but like many people before me the un-hooded jacket just isnt cool enough ^_^

Maybe try white and red for the paints instead? I can see yellow working too; just anything that works. Hm. Like maybe yellow eyes and white teeth while coloring in the rest of the mouth a bright red? :D

Your good! I hand sewn the face on when I made mine (I made Gumi's ... but I'm thinking of sewing more on) but if your better at painting than sewing this is great :) I can't paint on things like this for dear life though Dll

What do you mean by "normal paint?" I've used acrylic paints (like the ones that come in the bottles in the craft section), latex house paints, etc on fabric. I've even used spray paint.
However, watercolor paints won't work.

i made one of these yesterday with Gumi, theres one really important thing u left out... we made the mistake of leaving the paper on the wet paint when we were doing the black, the paper ended up getting stuck on paint.... it wasnt good.... the paper torn and got stuck to our hoodies D:

Im not too sure. Maybe you could try outlining the eyes and mouth so it stands out more.

I'm going to program this on MSWLOGO, print on special paper and iron it on my hoodie because I think it's would look terrible if I painted it on ☺
You really have to watch the placement of the eyes or it looks all derpy. With mine I used black felt then an old white t-shirt and some hot glue with fabric marker or the dots and I think it came out better than this one just because of the size if the eyes in comparison to the hood size and the eye placement. Good try though :3
