Hi! Today we are chatting (non-spoiler of course!) all about Gild, Glint, Gleam, & Glow by Raven Kennedy! The Plated Prisoner series is the dark fantasy fae romance series everyone is talking about and I feel like I need to share the good and the bad these books bring.

I understand that some people have great distaste for dark romance but personally when I opened that first page I knew that Midas was not our hero.
100%!!! my friend started reading the book and I kept telling him Midas is not the hero like please don’t think that they are endgame someone else is coming! Please wait! But he couldn’t get through book 1 😢
I really enjoyed the series your review made me read it. Book one was a struggle i agree, but i am glad i stuck with the journey like you said, and i have never read a book like it. I didn't even listen to all your reviews until just now, and so i was quite blind and i was so shocked. Like omg this author is writing this she is not shying away from anything not glazing over it she is describing these traumatic scenes and also the sex scenes had me gasping i was looking around to make sure noone one was near me omg... ....anyway, the series in my opinion is amazing i havent loved a series like this since idk throne of glass and ACOTAR ... it left me thinking "what now?"also I loved the cliff hangers when there was another book to read but now there isn't im like great now i have to wait.

Just finished Glow last night and I am very much not OK 😭Can't believe I have to wait 9 months to know what happens next. I really relate to being able to see all the problems with this series and still loving it so much. I love the characters, love the writing, love the world building, love the focus on politics and how real it feels (like and fact the it actually takes time to travel across a kingdom, which is very rare in fantasy books lol). And I LOVE Auren. On the other hand, not too crazy about the love interest. I thought he was rather boring and poorly written until we started getting chapters from his POV. That got me to like him more as a character, but I still think he's quite problematic. But I guess that's the dark part of the romance. 💛

Book 1 was difficult to get through, it's one of my most disliked books I've ever ever ever read. Couldn't really find any redemption considering its just on page violence from start to finish, finally re read it purely with the intention of reading the rest of the series considering the other books have much better ratings. I'm really enjoying the books, i'm on book 3 and they just seem to keep getting better and better. I'll probably never be a die hard fan of this series but i'm glad I gave it a second chance.
0h 100% the first book is not well written! I can honestly say that with each book she writes, her skill as an author becomes better and better and by book 4 I was really enjoying it! I don’t think I’ll ever read any of her backless books, just because I think her writing is growing and developing in this current series. Don’t think anything prior by her I would like, but I’m really looking forward to Gold!
Book 3 was so GOOD! THE DRAMA and the way the characters were in one place actually made it so dramatic, and there were so many stakes! I HATED MIDAS SO MUCH 😭

Do you feel like this was almost a ‘copycat’ of ACOTAR? Did you enjoy this more than ACOTAR?? I appreciate how honest you are with your thoughts on this series. 💛
Thank you! 💞And nope! I think it is definitely different enough to stand on its own. ACOTAR has way more world-building and is more intricate with the Fae. The Fae in Plated Prisoner are quite different. They don't have any animal or seasonal aspects to them like most fae stories and the magic is unique (a little under explained, but that's on purpose because Auren doesn't understand her own power, so I'm okay with it) Oh gosh, I don't think I like this more than ACOTAR but it's close!!

Mostly of the storyline, looks very similar to OCATAR. Especially how Feyre loved Tamlin so much at the beginng and then hated him at the end. And then loves Rhy. Now, this books Auren hates and loved Midas and now loves Slade. I stopped reading at the 3rd book, bec it seems like I was reading OCTAR too😒
