I swear to God if you don't start the next episode of this series with "uhhh hi, I'm Alpharius" we will riot

Curze: Batman if he were a serial killer.
Coraz: Batman if he were a Primarch.
Curze is Spawn If he became totally evil.
Na man, coraz is Superman if he was in 40k and a Primarch.
Perhaps Arthur’s comparison to Batman and Owlman is more apt
@
True.
Ironic that they're inversed from 40k; Batman good, birdman bat.
Dude, Corax is also a serial killer, he is just in denial, like all the other Primarchs.
The Raven Guard: "You can't see us, and you don't know that we're here."
The Night Lords: "You can't see us, but you DO know we're here."
The Alpha Legion: "You CAN see us, but you DON'T know we're here!"

One thing I really like about Corvus (and also Vulkan) is how he was one of the few Primarchs that saw through Horus’ bullshit earlier on and caught a glimpse of the man that would plunge the imperium into civil war.
It's starting to make a lot more sense why this man dedicated he rest of his immortal soul's existence toward the singular goal of turning Erebus into a mile long skid mark
Gonna give that mf the Ridley Special
He's failing as usual
Lorgar, not Erebus. And TBH, Lorgar deserves it far more. Erebus was a complete psycho from the start. Lorgar, on the other hand, understood completely the moral ramifications of what he was going to do, but did it anyway.
"We both looked into the abyss, but when it looked back, you blinked."
-Corvus to Konrad
Batman to Owlman
@@Loli_Vampire The Bat themed one is the nihilist this time.
@ Makes sense tho Owlman is a better character ngl
I liked it when Corax appeared, said "It's nevermore time" and nevermored all over Lorgars face. Truly a moment in 40k.
Good job Lorgar is bald.

@@seangrey that’s the next part of the meme brother
Corvus Corax is a shadowed figure with a subtle, always-present empathy for his fellow human. He abhores slavery and servitude. He didn't jive fully like what The Emperor was doing and stood loyal because he believed The Emperor that the state of things was merely a violent phase of necessary change before things could be set right. Humanity under one banner. He also didn't trust Horus or like him very much. Something always nagged at him that Something was very wrong with Horus. He knew to some degree Horus was more a chameleon than his true self and never fully trusted him.
Maybe because he saw Horus's ambition and the time he poorly used his sons in a frontal assault
@spartana1116 thats definitely a big part of it too
I prefer Angron and the Khan for the simple fact that Corax was a massive hypocrite. "Yeah, we will one day achieve freedom but for now I just will be FAR WORSE than my old overlord!s"
Meanwhile Angron couldn't care less about life and Big E had the Khan by the balls so if he acted out, his planet went puff.
I don't think it's all about Horus always being a traitor. Horus definitely had an ambition to him, but Corax specifically hated him because of that one time he send Raven Guard marines into frontal assault (while they're specialists of stealth assaults) despite Corvus protesting and turning it into a meat grinder.
Horus abruptly turning full-on traitor is one of the biggest failures of writers from BL. Like, in "Horus Rising" he's a staunch loyalist, then in "False Gods" he just goes along Erebus (who acts like a mustache-twirling villain from cartoons) and despite Magnus warning him and showing him the truth he just betrays and becomes full-time hater of the Emperor out of nowhere.
@@davidsekhleyan693 Ehh, not really. I mean it IS after the fact, but Black Library does lay the groundwork for Horus' betrayal. There are plenty of short stories and flashbacks that take place before Ullanor that show that Horus was a narcissist and not the perfect hero that everyone thought he was before he was made Warmaster.
So there is an aspect of Corvus that I love.
In Deliverance Lost we learn that although the emperor can appear and be perceived however he chooses to, for some reason Corvus sees the man. A man of brown skin in simple white robes bearing a staff. The Emperor seems to have suspected this would be the case and admits that "has no true face, having worn many throughout the ages according to need or whim. "
Corvus sees the Emperor's true face or the Emperor put on the guise of a humble man to install trust in Corvus. Either way it says a lot about Corvus.
Raven Guard: Unseen and Unnoticed
Alpha Legion: Seen but not noticed
Night Lords: Unseen, but noticed
Im starting to believe that the primarchs throw their own projections of the emperor on to the emperor whenever they interact. I feel like that helps to explain all this different personalities he takes on
I mean considering that Emps and the Primarch's are warpstuff to varying degrees, that tracks.
I thought that was kinda the point?
@@Lunch_Meat I feel like it is but I haven't seen any content creators talk about it that way
@@salvalente9378 ah. Gotcha. Yeah, I think that may be because some of the Warhammer content people are being a bit more simple and shallow than Arthur here. No knock against them, they could still be right after all, but these vids are deep psych studies compared to a lot of the other ones out there.
Again, no knock on other creators. GW has shown a history of simple and shallow writing so if they did actually do something deeper than a puddle I think a lot of people wouldn't see it coming.
I mean, the whole point of the book "Master of mankind" was pointing out exactly this. That Big E appears differently to each and every person he encounters; changing their perception of the interaction to best suit his best outcome. He even made the point of asking his Captain General if "He thought the Emperor was really speaking to him" when holding a conversation.
"Im not going to mince words."
- Man who always minces words
I remember my friend saying something like this:
Curze is what Corax could’ve been
Corax is what Curze should’ve been
Finally, repping my favorite Legion and Primarch over here. Something about these guys, from their aesthetic to their combat doctrine and ideals just clicks with me SO MUCH.
raven always
Raven evermore.
Victorus aut Mortis!
Corax while the raven guard are by no means my favorite primarch even in old lore who got super fucked over. From loosing so many of his sons to his replacements coming out as mutants who still loved him and asked him to kill them as they were in so much pain was so compelling to me
I think Corvus' time in the warp stripped away a lot of the veneer of humanity the emperor created and left whatever warp shenanigans was bound to each of the primarchs.
Also, it's really cool to see how the sable brand manifested in the Carcharodons. It seems like it's something most of the chapter constantly deals with, which they attempt to remedy with constant solitary contemplation.
he's prob a minor warp god that humanity conjured up in the warp long ago, strengthened by the belief in the primarchs and the emperor.
My boy didn’t fail… he just simply didn’t win.
(I can cope)
Bro didn't hear no bell
Yeah Corvus is in my top 3 favorite primarchs not gonna lie. The scene where he is crying while he is fulfilling his promise by euthanizing his sons broke my damn heart.
You are an interesting person, Arthur.
Corvus corax is the Batman of 40k and Cruze is more like owlman.
"it doesnt matter" . Damn, your right.
One thing i find very compelling, interesting and badass abt Corax is how drastically his demeanor and mindset can change when his sense of justice is violated. Hes mused before that while he doesnt fear taking on Curze in a fight, hes terrified of how easy it could've been to be just like him. He may be a liberator but he still holds all the facets of a butcher, a wraith brutalizing any that stand against him, all it would take is having that nature unleashed.
When Corax finally came to the conclusion that lorgar is the heart of the heresy, it's like a switch flipped. Curze was a spiteful bastard but he could never dredge up the level of hate corax has for lorgar for literally anyone. Not even for corax himself.
After Istvaan, Corax was a monster. He may have been mildly suicidal especially after the whole debacle with the Mutated raven guard and finding out that he and his brothers are fundamentally unnatural, but when he was focused on his objective jesus fuck cuze had nothing on him.
At one point he engaged a word bearer attached to his legion and spoke to him with such malice and hate it took basically all his sons there aback. He then murdered the marine like he was nothing and ordered his body be thrown into a furnace.
After a while he decided the only way he can find peace and justice was to hunt down lorgar himself. He embraced whatever warp nature is infused within the primarchs and has been on a single minded quest for lorgars head for 10k years real time and who fucking knows in subjective time.
Corax and Konrad both embody wrath and justice, but Curze lost focus in his insanity. He may have been cruel but that was truly all he knew, his most extreme act was letting himself be killed to vindicate his crimes, bc he could not face the justice he dealt out to others. He internalized his sense of justice and used it to justify his many many crimes. It was him saying: "i cant be the monster if i was always destined to be, if that was what i was created for, see, ill even let myself be killed to prove i never had any agency and was always the night haunter"
Corax almost completely externalized his sense of justice. He set aside his hate for Tyrants and served the emperor bc he believed in the future he was a temporary tyrant for. He showed restraint and mercy where many of his brothers would not have. He valued the dreams and innocence of the common man, of the future of mankind, fighting as a conquerer so the dream of a united species could come to pass. Then lorgar shattered that dream and took 8 of his brothers with him. His sense of justice and wrath fully overcame his mercy and his compassion. Hed fought so long so the common man would be free, to protect the innocent. Now he carelessly hunts the guilty.
Its him saying: "i did not want to be a monster, i did not want to be arbiter of punishment. I wanted to fight in the shadows where the brutality of war stays hidden so the innocent could bask in the enlightened future my father made me to protect. But now that dream has been turned to a nightmare, and the scales of justice have been lopsided for far too long. I will be what haunts the night, the shadows, the void, and destroy the man who destroyed the dream, no matter what that makes me. I am no longer what i once was, and i will hunt the wicked into eternity and bring its head as proof that justice was served, that my wrath served its purpose"
All primarchs are very flawed individuals but Coraxs characterization always hit different for me
Ah my favorite primarch. Crow Raven, leader of Bird Patrol
not "Caw Patrol"?
I loved when Corvus said, "This, oh this I hate."
When someone thought that him and Vulcan were just some Ogryn on Jopal
Corvus is Deathrock, post punk and other goth genres, Conrad is pure Depressive Suicidal Black Metal.
With Corvus' optimism, dudes easily the darker side of power metal or Symphonic. Dont make me like Curze though, thats a damn good genre.
@ haha I love both genres. I grew up goth listening to old school deathrock and it fits but you can’t tell me the DSBM is perfect for Konrad.
Corvus mentions that he gets overstimulated easily due to his upbringing in a dull grey mining planet while talking with guilliman
Because of this I always imagined him liking quiet dark music like dark ambience
16:58 my mind is telling me no but my body, my body is telling me yes
The moment Lorgar returns back to the setting, Corvus will return as well! 🐦⬛😁👍
Mr bones flexing on us about his education while I’m here working in a deli….
This single video has actually made me give a damn about the Raven guard & Corvus. Well done
Same.
A ground war between raven guard and night lords would just be spy vs spy.
Can't even begin to express my adoration for the Raven Guard in all there emo, stealthy glory. Them and the Night Lords are my two favorite legions and the two sides of the coin Konrad and Corvus inhabit is probably my #1 in fiction; in another timeline they would be a single character. My wardrobe and musical taste (I to love Hybrid Theory to much) would make it easy for people to discern which legions I preferer.
The Raven / bat comparison was so fkin classy it ended th edging streak
There’s a good line from Kurze where he’s essentially like “Damn. I own the night but that man? That man IS the night”
Finally my favorite Primarch! Corvus is right up there with Vulkan as being one of the most human Primarchs. Always loved that much like the salamnders the Raven Guard took a lot of Corvu's teachings to heart. Even if it means some of them are clinically depressed most of the time.
5:45 that's a plutocracy, my man!
32:22 “Let’s let the boss decide. We live and die by your order, Boss.”
1:32 was definitely a shot at PancreasNoWork 😂😂
Using Owlman in the Curze vs Corax talk was a pretty good analogy.
Just interacting with your content for algorithm reasons, love your stuff! Just keep doing exactly as you are, every video is gold.
Finally someone who actually understands Corvus. People always forgets how human he is.
Corvus: I wanna go back in the boooox. The box doesn't judge, it just Haaates.
God I miss TTS!!
Corvus Corax is my sneaky baby boy who can do no wrong

I felt called out whenever you dissed making up a amv fight montage in the shower
not even 10 seconds in and already a goated video
20:45 - yeah, that was one of the best depictions of Superman ever.

Do you know how long I've been waiting for a Curze/Corvus video??
LOVING THIS😊
Corax: Batman.
Curze: The Punisher.
Uff can’t wait for the 20th episode, I’m wondering what you have in store for us!
Gotta love the old crow. One of the few if not the only primarch that made a word bearer fear the warp, as well as scaring the pants out of a Night Lord. 😁
New to the channel, glad to have found your content! You put so much personality into all your videos. It’s beyond refreshing. Excited for the next upload!
I recently Just bought and currently painting up a Death Eagles army. My Cannon is that some of the emperor's children loyalists would show their raven guard Brothers were to get the hold of uncorrupted emperor's children Gene seed, and use both/ an amalgamation I like the death Eagles a lot as that concept because I tie in the humility that a lot of raven guards have and their guilt to temper the overconfidence and the ego of the emperor's children Gene seed
Dude death eagles fan hell yeah! How do you paint them? With their modern scheme or Rogue Trader?
@northstar1402 both I paint the Ravenguard type units with a 2004 scheme and any unit that isn't traditionally ravenguard like assault intercessors or outrider bikes blade guard veterans get the emperor's children, rogue trader scheme. In my lore new Death Eagles want to rush in the battle head first while also hitting running imagine white scars/ emperor's children, but over time as their friends die around them, they start to realize that Glory and honor are secondary to making sure that the mission and their allies are safe and in that regard they are perfectionists.
I love that you compared Konrad to Owlman, I feel it's closer than the regular Batman comparison.
Also, Hybrid Theory fucking rocks.
I’m not even in a profession for its study and I still find convergent evolution very interesting
Hi, I've been following your channel quietly for awhile now and I just wanted to post my thanks to you for sharing this window into Corvus, whom I never knew much about but with whom I feel so much of a connection to now that I've listened to this. He reminds me so much of my own beliefs and struggles especially on leadership and I love your unique and detailed look into and opinions of this very... Human Primarch.
My new favorite Primarch, with one of my favorite W40 lore guys. Thank you!
I love it when videos are longer.
Please, keep on doing this.
Just Bones casually saying that he studied my dream subject at uni and using a really cool evolutionary phenomenon as an analogy for Curze and Corax
Bro knows the specific date that homo sapiens emerged but doesn't know when WW1 started
He's like his dad only he fucks up just as much.
a thing i really like is that whenever gets into corax and his legion/chapter they always come out of that abbyss as a fan or at least liking them
Corax definitely one of my favorites in a mood kindred way.
I now want Mr.Bonez and pancreas to argue about the Eldar it will be funny and fun😂
Corvus' power is basically Obfuscate from Vampire RPG.
Think its funny comparing Angron and Corvus and their views of slavery, Angron completely rebelled cause he couldn't get over the big master of mankind didn't care about it while he turned a blind eye.
He knew about that and didn't like it but he is more pragmatic. He knew he could neither kill Emps nor Chaos on his own. But he could take over planets with less blood than World Eaters or Iron Warriors...
Also the imperium of the big crusade wasn't nearly as fucked as the 40k one.
The original elder emo daddy. Freedom me so haaaaaaaaard
He is not emo, but alt pop-punk nu metal(ish) rock
Looks emo, but has one of the biggest hearts in the setting
idk if it's just me but always saw Corvus in relation to Sanguinius rather than Curze, just sub in rage for sorrow. I swear it's not just the wings but instead they both refuse to lose optimism as to what the Imperium could be. Also the sable brand and his sorrow over the gene flaws of his sons maps pretty well onto Sanguinius' shame over his failures to save his sons from his rage. lastly the line about gene flaws being a representation of marines suffering by becoming more like their father was fire. There's analogy to Christ and the divine somewhere in there but also maybe a comment on the emperor's vision for a galaxy ruled by humans rather than demigods.
The convergent evolution bit was really neat, but my god did seeing a phylogenetic tree send shivers down my spine god I hate doing those
This also explains how the carcharadons are definitely successors of them. Their silent, melancholic nature mixed with extreme violence perfectly encapsulates the Raven Guard’s gene curse
A funny story about just how raveny the Raven guard is is I look up Corvus corax looking up the primarch and then a raven pop up and made me realize bros name it literally the scientific name for ravens 😂
Among my favorite Primarchs. Always appreciate a video of him whenever.
UNDERSTANDING is the key feature to reconciling the difference between two people
We eating good with this one.
The switch up in voice made me think i was watching two separate videos
It’s time for the double cross legion. Hydra dominatus
I was a big fan of Corvus from the second he handed his saviors as a baby a shiny gaurd helmet as a gift..... with the head still inside lol
When you were the one dad gave the cloning technology to.
He may have abandoned his sons to selfishly hunt Lorgar in the warp while his homeworld stares down a tendril of hive fleet leviathan but he’s also hot so it’s ok 😇
(Also the Raven Guard has a dedicated John Brown division in it’s 6th company and I think that’s pretty neat)
I think the 6th company really embodies that anti-tryanny element in Corvus. It's my favorite part of the Raven Guard.
Yeah, Arch is also of the opinion that Corvus and Curze are extremely different individuals.
I like how konrad and corvus's relationship can be summed up as the he do not got that shit on meme.
I like how for every action the emperor does with a son, he does the reverse with another son. My guess, to judge how they would behave or grow with the decisions they make or can't make.
This video was awesome. Evolution, specifically phylogenetics, is one of my favorite subjects. Thanks, man.
Love the Corax/Curze contrast and I feel like it often doesn't get the recognition it deserves in the lore
As a Night Lords fan, Corvus has my eternal respect for being one of the few (non Dark Eldar) people to genuinely terrify my bat boys to their core.
I like the idea that the reason we haven't seen lorgar is because corvus is prowling around outside his tower and is basically keeping lorgar as a hostage in his own house, and I'm pretty sure that when ever lorgar can escape and returns to the setting we will certainly get corax back as well.
Corvus's nephew Tyberos definitely inherited some form of Corvus's Obfuscate discipline. Although in Ty's case, it's more that he menaces so much fear that everyone who would 'see' him simply chooses not to. AKA "YOU DO NOT SEE TYBEROS!"
“He thinks in Three Days Grace lyrics” is a wild phrase and so fucking accurate
You know, it was already between probably Guilliman, Ferrus, and Corax for my favorite Primarch, but yep, definitely Corax now. Can relate to his mindset VERY well indeed. Makes my choice of my first homebrew chapter being a Raven Guard successor all the more confirmed to be correct. I never really had a TON of interest in learning about the Raven Guard proper, but that might just have to change.
I appreciate the detailed review of Course, I was RG player back in 3rd and 4th edition. This makes me want to get some models and start painting again.
Just started reading the raven guard books . This was timed nicely
I really enjoyed the convergent evolution metaphor. It made that comparison between the two primarchs click for me!
Meme man memes once again!
I’ve seen you use Magic the Gathering cards as joke references from time to time, I’d honestly love to see you cover the timeline with your humor.
As always, love the long videos
One thing I like about Guilliman is that despite the emotionless and methodical nature he puts on, there are multiple instance where he absolutely just completely fucking loses his temper and goes on a rampage - and you can see this manifest in a lot of the Ultramarines successor chapters
Now that you changed your mind on Corvus, it’s time to update the goddamn blunt rotation.
Corvus is shadow pilled and based.
I really like that he embodies that 80s Goth vibe with "Dark on the outside but kind on the inside." He is kinda the opposite of Hours in that sense.
I really admire him being someone with genuine empathy and perseverance. Also his pragmatic but strict moral code.
He is a freedom fighter, not a dictator.
He is very similar to Jaghatai Khan in many aspects as he isn't very fond of the emperor's methods but he is smart enough to know what happens when he turns.
I think the emperor trusted him the most because he basically told him about the warp and probably of his true nature. He even gave him the OG gene seed before it was split.
Let’s GOOO I’ve been waiting for this.
Anyone else think that the surprise 20th episode will be Constantin Valdor?
Those terran exiles became the space sharks
Raven Guard player here (and Night Lords) I heard someone once say that Corvus is the ultimate Guerilla fighter. But that's also his weakness. He can overthrow empires, but doesn't know how to build one. So it makes sense that he's constantly worried about becoming Curze. Like Curze, he only knows how to destroy but cannot properly build like Guilliman
