We Telugu people remember Munro as “Mandukya Maharshi” because of his great services to the local people. 🙏
HEARD Lot about munro in childhood
Very interesting
Well said Thomas Munro "Duty of a civil servant to serve the public and not to rule over them." Much less loot ordinary citizens for every step taken or avoided. Today's civil servants will do well to remember this in India, where almost nothing can be done without greasing palms. Add to this, the civil servants being willing instruments in the hands of political masters for some individual gain. Shame !
Very well said.. Let us also remember those Englishmen who served in honest and upright manner like Sir Thomas Munro..although they were not many. Their contribution in teaching various science, medicine, archaeology, surveying and mapping, Railways-and various fields like judiciary cannot be forgotten.. although some of them were primarily for their convenience for ruling the country more effectively. Some English I.C.
S . Officers had deeply studied Indian affairs, culture and religion and wrote many books..
I hope this historian brings to lights those more such historical men and edifices.
It's a very interesting episode as always sir. I also want to add that I bought your book and it's an amazing work. I heartily reccomend all the viewers here to buy the book!
