Great video Albert. It is very clear and I have learned a lot. Now I am going to set mine up like yours :)
I always like seeing how other photographers do their file storage workflow. Thanks for sharing!
welcome!
Great workflow, thank you for that. I am actually in Tuscany, so I can check this out right now. Best regards Werner
Great! Enjoy Tuscany :)
Hi Albert, thanks alot sharing your insights on how to create a workflow like yours, very detailed and clear.
My pleasure!
Hi Albert, thanks for sharing your professional workflow. I've got
one question, wouldn't it be easier to export the "mobile" catalogue (includes previews and all the metadata) and import this catalogue on your main machine?
👏👏👏
Hey, very interesting to see how a Pro organizes his photos! Thank You 👍!
You are welcome
Thanks for showing your workflow methods. Nice video!
thank you!
Thanks for your insights 👍
Welcome Dennis! :D
Thank you very much for sharing your workflow! Will definitely check out your article especially in regards to the NAS! I was wondering, if you also work with smart folders and keywording in LR to have the pictures automatically moved to certain folders?
I don't really use that, but it works super well :) Think of giving your favourite shots a special color and make an automatic collection that collects all those photos with that colours, so you have an automated collection with all your favourite shots. I might have to start doing this when I am typing this, actually :D
Thanks for sharing. Do you create a separate catalogue for each trip on your laptop?
Nope! I just empty the catalog/machine because I need the disk space anyway :) . I see it kind of as a disposable catalog. No need to stay organised on the laptop that I only use on the road anyway.
Thank you very much for sharing your workflow in detail. How do you go about searching for a specific photo from past years? Do you have a centralized search system to explore your archives?
All my photos are in 1 folder. Simply click that folder, go in my library (in Lightroom) and search for text. Then simply type in the location and Lightroom will find all photos from that location in the entire catalog. Also I have collections sorted by location to easily find everything. Hope that helps :)
Thank you Albert for the video and article as well. One question: once you export the jpeg from a file where do you save it? In the folder with all the original raws and psd or in a separate folder? Thank you
I just have a folder on Dropbox for that :)
Thanks Albert for this very useful video. May I ask which monitor (brand, model) do you use with your work station?
Sure! It's actually in the description of the video :) BenQ SW321C
Thanks Albert
Thanks for the insights. You don't mention how you back up your Lightroom catalog on the workstation, unfortunately. This is based on SQLite databases and cannot be connected via a network share.
Right! My normal drive on the workstation is being backed up simply by time machine on an attached portable ssd drive.
