Robert Whittaker got KO'd took on Till, Cannonier and Gastelum. Lost his title shot then took on DDP, Costa and now Chimaev.
Holloway lost to Volk then took on Kattar, Yair. Lost his title shot again then fought Allen, TKZ(ok) and Gaethje.
Gaethje lost to Charles then took on Fiziev, Poirier and Holloway.
Always prefer fighters who walk the walk over those who just talk. These guys are taking risks to give us great moments, they deserve media attention and love from the fans not Colby.
That's why Whittaker, Holloway and Gaethje will all be remembered fondly once they finally hang up the gloves. They took risks, won the fights and gave the fans spectacles in the process.
Can't say the same for Covington. Cherry-picked fights, inactive and boring fights. He'll fade into obscurity after he retires, probably even before that.

Bisping was already damaged, had one eye, got dropped twice every fight... GSP knew he would just come for Bisping and get another belt easy, then retire again. Nothing wrong with it, but if Whittaker was champ GSP wouldnt have come back. Bisping was so done with MMA that Kelvin Gastelum knocked him out in the first round after that. And Bisping barely survived against Hendo, who was 47 (dropped and almost KOd Bisping twice, arguebly even won in many peoples eyes)

If you could make 100 times more money in 1 fight than their 10 why would mma fighters do that to themselves and raise their chance of cte or injuries for fans who probably just want to see them lose anyways. 4 is cte logic and you gotta consider training camps, weight cuts, and preparing for different styles is way more of a problem with how many styles there are in mma. That's just dumb and all it would do is rush out contenders and champs resulting in tons of fighters declining faster. Your logic is even worse when you forget protocols that force fighters (they dont have a choice) to take 3 months or longer off after a fight. Just say you don't care about fighters and want to see more fights despite hurting their career. As long as a champ defends 1-2 times a year that's fine and it lowers the chance of running out of contenders like mw, fw, and flyweight.

IMO the first signs of his decline were in the second Usman fight as evidenced by his tentative and rusty start which may have cost him the decision, it was uncharacteristic.
I thought this was booked, wow. He should get his ranking dropped for ducking. Let him get benched longer, age and lose even more devastatingly when he does fight eventually. His time has long passed and it's all his fault.

I love how the narrative on Colby has changed. MMA fans are such bandwagon heavy fans. I remember two years ago when Colby beat Masividal and called out Dustin and everyone was on his dick and trashing Dustin for ducking the fight. Now Dustin is still a fan favorite for MMA fans and well respected for fighting an up and comer while Colby is finally exposed for his unbearable character.
Dustin copped so much ridiculous hate for 'ducking' even though its literally impossible to duck someone who fights in another division.
