Microphone works great 👍 Perfect timing for me in Arizona, USA for this video. I have three types of hollyhock seeds on hold with my public library's seed bank. 😀
@Bonnie Maria Wine, Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I was bit worried as I used it for the first time..ha ha..Good luck in growing the Hollyhocks and I know, they would do really well! TC :-)
I hope one day I can have a garden tour in your lovely garden, maybe you can make a video of your whole garden. Thank you for all the important tips you share.
I’m planning to buy hollyhock seeds thanks to you, sir :) I recently brought ranunculus/buttercups seeds… I live on the Philippines and it’s very hot here… I’m hoping to gain advise if they would live here?
You are most welcome :-) Both need cool climate to grow and bloom and won't survive in hot weather. So, please sow the seeds when temp is the coolest in your place (hope your place is frost free). Thank you and sir is not required actually!
@@GardeningUpbeat thank you so much, I highly appreciate your help. :) Your work and channel helps me a lot. I watch and rewatch your videos almost everyday. It is coldest during December here. I will start sowing them during this month.
They actually produce lots of seeds and self seeds well..that's why new seedlings are growing here and there. Happens with me too, with other plants..for example, I can still find seedlings of a plant which I grew 2 years back..he he..
hi.. Will hollyhocks seeds still grow if I remove the coat..some pests eat the seeds inside, so Im thinking to just remove it so I can inspect why they are not sprouting..
Seed companies should provide fresh and germinate able seeds, if none of them would have germinated I must thought I have done something wrong. Thats the biggest problem for beginners
I planted hollyhock red this year. They have already leaves but some of them are turning yellow. Can you tell me, please what I am doing wrong? Love your videos. Thank you so much for any help
@Sylvia Manning, Some of them are turning yellow means, lack of Nutrients. Basically, they are signalling that you need to feed them, specially the Nitrogen. It happens as they grow quite tall. If they don't get enough nutrients, the lower leaves turn yellow so that plant can still grow. Nothing to worry about as only few leaves are turning yellow. You can feed them and they would be happy. Thank you for your words and wish you all the best!
@@GardeningUpbeat thank you for your answer. I love your videos and the way you explain because it's so clear. Following your instructions, for the first time, I grow my Petunias this year. Thanks again.
I planted hollyhock in October and it's been growing well, leaves are increasing but it is not growing taller also no n sign of flower stalk apoearing. It's been 90 days since i sowed the seeds , I'm worried it won't bloom. Is there anything else i need to do to get it to bloom. I feed it npk regularly and have also added compost, potash, neem khali in the soul mix.
I have many.....there are many plants and they are not sold as Succulent even if they are succulent. For example, Snake plant, Rhio, Elephant bush, Aloe Vera and, Euphorbia Milii, Peperomia etc. belongs to the same category 'Succulent'. I also have many other plants which are mostly sold as Succulent in market, such as - Echeveria (too popular), Haworthia, Sedum, Agave, String of banana, string of pearls etc..
Sure...I would do and thank you! String of banana would get uploaded very soon! 2 more would be done on Snake plant and one on Peperomia and so on..As they take quite a long time to grow, bit difficult to record them in my style. Plus, too hard to maintain them in Summer as rainfall in my place is quite high!!!
From your profile name, it looks like you are from my country, India. And, no, they won't be able to tolerate summer temp and better to grow them in Winter. For Summer, we can grow many many beautiful plants and if you want some ideas, please do a search on TH-cam as - Summer flowers Gardening Upbeat :-)
They flower the first year? When you are up high, do you have the same problems with destructive insects as at ground level? Could they survive indoors or do they need a rest... dormancy? Thank you very much for this video.
Yeah, they flower first year itself. I would say, no of insects is definitely bit lower comparing to ground level but I still get some here n there. One other drawback while growing veggies..pollinator insects get reduced too and because of that, can't harvest a lot comparing to ground. I doubt they would survive indoor (though I am sure it's totally advanced there comparing to my place) as need sunlight to bloom. Here, they usually die as summer approaches. Can't tolerate the high temp in my place. Hope, I have answered your questions and thank you for watching!
@@GardeningUpbeat Thank you. Advanced here? No, not really. It will he an experiment. Some bees do fly up at this level. They liked the Lavender last year.

What is the best time to repot anthurium? And is it fine if I use a 6 inch clay pot to repot it , it is presently in a 4 inch plastic pot. Im am growing anthurium for the first time , hope to get success😊😊 From ur videos i found that artificial soil would be best for it , but perlite is not available at my place , pls tell its alternative also.thnx in advance👍👍
@Chaitanya Srivastava, Best time to repot..well, we can do at anytime as they bloom throughout the whole year and there is actually no dormancy period. Sure, definitely you would get the success and wish you all the best! You are right...artificial soil mix (without garden soil) is much better if you don't have perlite, it's okay. You can just replace the Perlite with more small pieces of Coconut Husk. Please make sure to wash the Coconut properly before using them. Or else, you can replace the Perlite with Wood Charcoal...Thank you :-)
Yes, this is true! Hollyhocks need to spend their first year of life growing leaves and sending energy to their tap root. Flowering is triggered by a winter dormancy period and once the plant has stored up enough energy in this way.
I have grown hollyhock from seeds but the leaves are in round shape and the the plant is not having a long stem and it's been 3 months. is it really hollyhock??
Hi I’ve grown it from seeds in bright area and it doesn’t get sunlight there. It’s 2 month old seedlings now. When i moved it into sunlight area its leaves started going downwards. What’s the problem? Is our sunlight temperature is too much ? I’ve put it sunlight area for around 1 hour only. When i saw that leaves going down i immediately settled it back where it was. So is it doesn’t require sunlight ? Temperature is around 20-25C in daytime.
Sorry...due to some personal issue (lost one of our beloved Family member), I am not much active on Insta..Please send me pic on Insta and I would get back to you!
Did you sow your seeds yet? Whats the temperature in ur area? I am worried because my seeds are not germinating and if I sow them late they flower late😭😭 please tell when will you sow your flower seeds?
My hibiscus double petal buds are falling for more than3-4 times none of the bud bloom since I bought it from nursery what yo do please tell me????????🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
either are you watering it a lot or there is potassium deficiency in your soil (: although many times the bud drop is due to intense sun light but looking at the climatic conditions these days i don't think so that could be a reason, and the pest attack (mostly mileybugs) is very obvious aswell. I'd still recommend you to use MOP or MUSTARD CAKE fertilizer for your plant, keep spraying neem oil on your plant :-)

When do you plant the seeds in USA
Hollyhocks need light to germinate. So don't cover with anything but a very slight dusting of soil. Just keep the soil very moist.
