    Ive watched a lot of mixing videos from puremix to mix with the masters etc and this is by far the best and im not even just talking about the mixing part but the introduction summed up the life we live as mixing engineers. Love David he has set the bar this last years, solidified his spot as a great in the industry.

    There is a certain presence when recording that inspires someone immediately, even before they start their work. David is definitely my most influential person in that regards. I mix classical music, and orchestra, with some in pop and indie and folk, but not Hip Hop, Rap and R&B, and David gave such insight to how something is just glued together with that industry standard. Thank you for posting this iZotope!

    Fantastic work on that Nipsey record. It just hits different, the music and the production. I felt that after the first 20 seconds of listening to it. Thanks for that! Great pick for the series iZotope!
    Strange sidestory:
    Nas made me become a fan of hiphop, too. After that I listened to a lot of great music, but sometime at the end of the 90ies, the ship kind of sailed for me and I got stuck on those artists. The love just wasn't the same any more. I only got excited once for music again for a short period listening to 50 Cent and Papoose. Those 2 were different. Since then I listened to thousands of songs and artists, but nothing really caught on for about a decade until I heard "Racks in the Middle". That song stood out, the sound stood out, too. There was that feel again, that I thought would probably never come back again. David Yungin Kim hit that vibe and and I'm still listening to Nipsey every day. To me the guy is one of the greats.

    I thought it was interesting that he ran the Imager in parallel and that he only added width to the low band. I usually only add width to the highs and high mids. There's a preset on Imager called "Gentle Width" that works well on most stuff. Definitely would never have thought to add parallel width to my lows, but I guess in hip hop bass is less mono than it is in the kind of rock music I make.

I have IZotope pro and have been learning with it it but wasn't sure if I have been using it properly or if I should have been using other plugins as many mixers promote. This was soooo helpful. • @angtongteron199
      @angtongteron199 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      According to Jaycen Joshua, when they send the mix to A&R or whoever approve the mix, if the record doesn't sound like they hear on the radio, they might lose the mix. So They use to master it but when they send the mix to the mastering engineer they'll just turn it off. This could be the reason but I could be wrong. Or maybe he'll master it himself. Idk
