boy, you really called that Uncanny X-Men 133. I've been seeing so many posts for sale on this comic. there seems to be some hype on it right now. great list!
Glad you enjoyed it! Make sure to subscribe and check out some other videos… I’ve also got a Wednesday night live stream at 10 PM Central called The Giveaway Show. You should tune in some time!
Solid video man, you shared some cool information and I’m glad I watched this. Definitely gonna look for the costume color change book and a couple other uncanny x men that were in the first couple books you mentioned
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications so you’ll know when the 850 Milestone Subscriber Giveaway Video goes live!
Thanks, Vlone! I tried to pick books that were still on the rise and thus affordable for the average collector. Make sure to subscribe for our upcoming 750 Subscriber Giveaway!
Glad you enjoyed it! Make sure to check out some of the other top 10 less. I enjoy putting together my own list of recommendations that can fit everybody’s budget.
@@JakeTheComicBookDude It’s a great series to have! The price has gone up considerably since this video first came out but I still think it’s a solid mini series to own.
Awesome list..and as a huge wolverine collector. Have them all. As well the grail 1st appearances of wolverine including giant size xmen #1. I hunted them all down years ago. And just put them away. And I also would recommend any of the books talked about. Good job bud as always.
I think that’s a solid list. A few others that I personally enjoy are: X-men 98 (first time we see Wolverine’s face without his mask and also learn that his claws are part of his body and not inside his gloves), X-men 109 (first appearance of Weapon Alpha and first mention of Alpha Flight), X-men 118 (first appearance of Wolverine’s greatest love Mariko Yashida and we also first learn of Logan’s connection to Japan and can read Japanese), X-men 120 & 121 (first cameo and full appearances of Logan’s old team Alpha Flight), X-men 132 (the last panel on the last page is the most iconic image of Wolverine ever except for his one panel cameo in Hulk 180).
These are some excellent additions! Definitely all good books to have for a Wolverine fan. Thanks for coming by, watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
1st time watcher, now new subscriber! I am always skeptical about top 10 recommendations but you knocked this out of the park!! I really liked and appreciated your reasoning behind each pick, GREAT JOB!!!
Thank you so much for watching, commenting with such positive feedback and for subscribing! I try to really consider which books I would want for my own collection and why for each list so I’m glad it resonated with you! Looking forward to being on this collecting journey with you!
Im 49. When I was a kid, id get my allowance and ride my bike to the comic store and would slowly add to my collection. G.I. Joe, Xmen and Wolverine were my go too books. Wolverine was always my favorite so I have most of the important single books and series from that time period. A lot of my comics, say 80%) have never been read. Now I just need to get my butt in gear and get them graded.
@@jasonK1375 Wow! I’m sure your collection is awesome, especially with so many years in! Certain books should be graded, but most can be enjoyed or sold as raw, just make sure to give them a good once over yourself.
Great picks! As a long time Wolverine fan (ever since I was a kid he's been my favorite) I really appreciate a video like this. Books like the Punisher: War Journal had been off my radar so I wasn't really aware of those in particular. Also, can we all just agree that the Origins story is set in an alternate timeline and isn't canon? Wolverine's back story was so much better before it all got retconned
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, I think Punisher War Journal 6-7 are massively underrated for what they are… they’re a fantastic story! As for Origin, while I enjoyed the story, like you, I feel it stands apart from a lot of Wolverine lore; a big part of his appeal is his mystique.
I may never have Hulk 180, 181, or 182. But I locked down the Frank Miller limited series and Wolverine #1 years ago... Got all the keys in volume 1 locked down... Interested to see what you got to see what might be off my radar.
@@CarlosCollectsComics man. Chris Claremont came to my local con several years ago, and all I took was my 4 XMen 1 covers. I totally didn't know he worked with Miller on that limited series. I hope I see Chris again one day.
Real talk!! Yo!! I got the Logan’s on lock. Personal collection. Only #Slab I rock. #PaulWall #Iride5. No fatal attractions?? Best battle ever!! Result!! Origins!! Boneclaws!! Old man Logan knows bruh. Great video my guy.
Thank you! It’s something I committed to, especially for personal collection books. For those I’ll eventually sell, I do slab them. Also, once a book breaks $1,200-$1,500 in raw value, I will go ahead and get it slabbed.
I definitely understand the sentiment! But I build the list to give the average collector some fun options for each character… that being said, 181 is a solid purchase to make.
I have two newsstand copies of that What If book. I picked one up at a local con for 30 dollars very high grade. I got the other one on an online auction along with What If 23 for $30 bucks.
Nice list, Carlos! I dabble in Wolverine keys, ever since I bought a Hulk 181 in the 80s! I'm not a completist, but I have X-Men 133, Marvel Comics Presents 72, and the Wolverine Ltd. Series 1 & 4 (I also bought this last couple off the rack back in the day!) I sent in the Wolvie 1 and got a 9.4, not bad since I read it as a teen!
That’s awesome! Those are all great books to have, especially the Hulk 181! I still wish I’d snagged a Hulk 181 at my LCS 3-4 years ago when it was sub $1,000. I also passed on a set of the Limited Series, all signed by Frank Miller, for under $200 a couple years ago. You win some, you lose some! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion! Here’s a brain teaser, tho... what if Iron Fist 14 could be a major key for both characters? 🤷🏻♂️ just approaching it from a slightly different angle... but the beautiful thing about fandom is that we can both be 100% right with two completely different opinions! 🎉🎉
You completely missed some of the best ones. Ones that are more deserving imo of being on the list over some of the ones you chose. First and foremost Wolverine vol 3 #66 the start of the Old man Logan story. #2 while we're on the topic #67-#72 and the Giant sized Old man Logan #1. #3. Continuing the Old man Logan subject a little known gem that most people are oblivious to, pick up his first appearance in Fantastic Four #558 (most people mistaking think it's Wolverine #66 😉. ) Then staying on the more affordable side: #4 All New Wolverine #1 first solo series of X-23 as Wolverine. (Honestly I would suggest buying that whole run. Lots of keys, and over all a great read. #5 All new all different Marvel point one #1 first appearance of X-23 in the Wolverine costume. #6 NYX #3 First appearance of Laura Kinney X-23 I'll stop there because 6 is my favorite number. But you could do a whole other list branching off from there on X-23 keys. A few honorable mentions NYX #4, X-23 women of marvel one shot, the first X-23 solo series. Watch out there are some lesser known variants in these earlier books that fetch nice price tags (The Dell Otto variant for X-23 #1 is insane 😉. )
Thank you for the feedback and recommendations! I will definitely need to check them out and dig further. As far as including X-23 key issues on this list, I’d probably go with creating a specific video for just her character. I debated whether or not to include Sabretooth’s 1st Appearance, but ultimately decided to because he’s (a) now a Wolverine villain and (b) so integral to the Wolverine mythology that it just made sense. X-23 has branched off enough now that she should really have her own Top 10 list, imho. Thanks again for commenting and giving feedback... as I’ve said before, I love to hear from everyone who views a video and takes the time to leave a comment. I’ll always try to respond in kind!
I greed with your #1 on the list. Thanks for sharing.
