I love the dynamic between John and Addison, you can feel the love and respect in the way they look at and respond to each other. It's beautiful.

…”I refuse to define/label/confine you by my small understanding of who you are. Only God knows the full story.” 🔥 and starting your own traditions and being intentional…loved it 💯

When John is in the zone and speaking over everyone and his family is believing the best about him right there. The smiles on their faces say it all. 😂😂 Beautiful family and your love and respect for each other comes through. God bless you all.

I love the reminder to look at our family members the way God does, their potential, not dwelling on the stuff of the past. Should make for a merrier Christmas!

this father-son dynamic is a nice picture of how great the Father-Son dynamic is. a daughter mother dynamic might also be nice. Thank you

I love the discussion about starting your own traditions to create a safer more "tension-free" environment. And we can even ask Holy Spirit to help us come up with these if we don't have the creativity. Love it! Love you guys! Thanks so much!

My dad passed right before Christmas a year ago. What is hard, is the last time we saw him, he refused to discuss Jesus & didn't want prayer. We pray he had a talk with the Lord before his last breath.

This is beautiful! Let’s not forget that there are some people that are not ready for healthy relationship…and in some cases distance is just fine! Let’s be mindful to not try to be a savior to those that may only want to destroy you. We can pray for wisdom in how to navigate the very encounter with love & patience. Sometimes, that just means not being in the room or leaving a bit early.
Hope you all have a happy & healthy holiday season 🎄🤍

Thank u. It's now 11:40 in South Africa. I watched this teaching this morning at about 06:30. So over the weekend we had a wedding in my family. Holiday is not in full swing as yet, and already from the wedding we've had a morning of messages sent to n fro that weren't too pleasant. Holiday family drama is in full swing in my family😅 . Glad it came after I listened to this. Now that I have been empowered by this teaching: I don't feel as drained as I would be. Thanks for this, I reaaaaaaally needed it

This is the first time I’ve watched. I’ve loved the Bevere’s books and talks. I loved this episode on so many levels. This episode has a lot to unpack for those of us who have had the ultra messy families but it’s life giving as anyone can begin anytime to honor and respect those in their lives. It’s never too late. For new families trying to navigate their own new traditions, this is perfect. Thank you! Merry Christmas y’all, from Florida. 🎄

So good! My husband and I refer to the concept of choosing to see others the way God sees them as "gold digging." Purposefully looking for the good or "gold" in people and not dwelling on the past or peoples' weaknesses or how they may have wronged us before. We have to remember who someone was before is not necessarily who they are today or who they will be later. Easier said than done of course! Thank you for this reminder!

Absolutely love these episodes and topics! I really like how you are practical and apply the Word of God to our everyday struggles and life to make us grow and mature (which is how it should be). I love the candour honesty and the great relationships between the 4 of you. John and Lisa you are like a father and mother in the faith for me, in my Christ following journey. Please keep these episodes coming. Blessings

Ahhh so much gold in every episode! My husband and I watch / listen to every episode and unpack our own thoughts and experiences with a hope to apply everything we’ve learned. Thank you for speaking into all these areas that encompass family & the home and encouraging us in how we can do it well! 🤍
At 11:30 the way John looks at Addison ~ a proud dad moment captured! A beautiful statement was said “I refuse to define you by my small understanding of you.”
Looking forward to every episode to come (and tweak of the week 😂) Merry Christmas Bevere’s x

Loved this! Thank you so much. It’s exactly what was on my heart as Christmas approaches. I would really love to hear your guidance on dealing with family and friends of family who aren’t Christians and haven’t changed. How far is too far before we put boundaries in and say they can’t come to Christmas etc. We’ve had in-law family of cousins come and behave drunkenly and done terribly inappropriate things in our home. I put a stop and said no this year because I don’t want that ungodliness in our home playing out in front of our children - especially because Christmas has a Christian meaning to us - not just a big meal and lots of alcohol like it means to those we have welcomed into our home trying to be a godly and loving light to them. I want to do the right thing as a Christian but not at the expense of our children (12, 10, 8 and 5) witnessing ungodly behaviour. I’d really love to hear your wisdom on this subject! God bless you all over Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our wonderful Saviour ❤

Yes I would love to know too... where should the boundaries be especially with family who might be violent.
How do you show them love and forgiveness, while protecting yourself and your family?
Especially when you don't have the support of extended family.

That was so great!, but as I listen my heart is heavy. My husband and I had our life rocked when we met Jesus many moons ago, and we raised our 4 kids in the Lord and in church. Today our oldest daughter and her family which consist of 3 Grandchildren are estranged from the entire family. (Here’s the kicker they claim to be Christians). This has gone on for 14 years. This year our middle son decided he also had the option to cancel us. He and his wife have been having issues, and they have a Grandson we adore. He will not respond to us. I wish I could say there was some drastic thing that happened or some hidden abuse, but there’s not. It seems there’s some sort of socialization concept that has crept into the church where you can call whoever doesn’t line up with what you think as toxic and just cancel them. The hurt is difficult to deal with especially during the holidays. My husband and I have decided not to be one of the statistics of estranged parents, as there are many of us. We do not want to get underneath the lie of that identity. We are looking to the Lord as our hope, our hope just in Him. We are looking for others to pour into. It just hurts! It would be awesome if some Spirit filled ministers would speak on this. There’s not a lot about it from the Christian standpoint, probably due to the shame and embarrassment associated with it. There’s also the fear of being judged as a bad or some sort of abusive parent. Of course it goes without saying that when you deal with something like this, you go through a personal inventory, but that has to have an end term. You can’t become hyper sensitive and think that the estrangement is riding on any given thing or word or glance that occurred. The feeling of helplessness and confusion, “the this doesn’t make sense” all points to demonic activity. It’s a blessing to hear from your anointed family. Merry Christmas.
