The Gen-dai are known for being extremely difficult to kill. Durge himself had to be launched into a star to ensure he could regenerate. So, I'm assuming Rayvis held out on his regen capabilities so he could finally die.
old age too we don't know how long their species last with that immortality until passes away this might have been his final fight pretty much dying from old age or the constant wounds he had

I believe durge was genetically enhanced to a point... you fight a couple in swtor as well
