But it is about punishing and controlling women. Men still get to act like their bodies are amusement parks! While women are forced to live out The Handmaid's Tale.
The case was filed in Abilene, TX, where there was only one judge who would possibly hear the case. The judge has an extreme Christian nationalist agenda (which he partly lied about to Congress in his hearing), and applied his ruling (which was filled with junk science and lies) over the entire US. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld his ruling, so the Supreme Court had to hear it to decide if it's too extreme for even the Republican justices.
Sperm are more responsible for unwanted pregnancies than ovaries. Women are only fertile 3 days per month. Men are fertile EVERY DAY. Vasectomies save lives.
I agree, as a Christian myself. I hate how some people are trying to force their own personal religious beliefs on others. And this case brought to the SCTOUS is an example of that, it should have never happened.
The wife of Josh Hawley presented such a weak argument in this case, so much it was amusing. Her presentation was so flimsy. Full of hypothetical situations. Not fact or science based. I was happy to hear the pushback from all justices except for Alito and Thomas. They, of course have no clue anyway.
Why did they even hear this case? This court is dodging hard decisions, ignoring corrupt judges in their midst and entertaining frivolous arguments. Absolutely no credibility.
The laws should be changed as to allowing organizations to pick and choose where they can file a lawsuit such as this, they picked a district where they knew the judge was a fierce opponent of women's healthcare and from the outset would ban Mifepristone across America. Let's hope they lose in the Supreme Court.

As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. More than 6.5 million shares in Trump Media had changed hands by 9:50 a.m. 😊🖕
Just a reminder that this drug is extremely safe and the misoprostol they're also attacking is used not just in abortion but in all sorts of healthcare situations where there is a need to stimulate action in the uterus.

I find the argument about judges not being medical researchers interesting. Here in the UK, judges would ask 3 simple questions (1) has the FDA failed to take into account factors which it should have when reaching its decision (2) has the FDA taking into account factors in reaching its decision which the legislature has said it should not take into account and then finally (3) did the FDA reach a decision which was so unreasonable that no competent FDA could have reached. Of course in this case the medical research goes back decades and is very clear, mifepristone is safe, far safer than continuing the pregnancy. If SCOTUS followed the UK approach the case would be much simpler as only the first question would be in issue
There is no real possibility of having an intelligent discussion with a person who claims that "life begins at conception"! That extreme position indicates that such people have no ability to present an argument.
And even if that were the case, why should "life" trump every other right of any other person? If that were the case, the state would be able to force people to get vaccinated, to donate organs, to run into burning buildings, to do all sorts of stuff. Guns would be illegal and capital punishment, too. If the preservation of life is the most important value, anything that works against it should be banned. Alcohol, driving cars, eating fatty and salty foods, people should be forced to exercise. I don't want to live in such a society where the state sees and hears everything, and controls everything. What is the mortality of misoprostol? Mortality rates for mifepristone-misoprostol are estimated at 0.8-1.5 deaths per 100,000 abortions in the U.S.,[18,19] and mortality in the second trimester is approximately 10-fold higher [20].

So absolutely NO standing to even bring this before the Court. Let's see which judge or judges say otherwise in their ruling.
You guys don't want to call it what it is (abortion) so you create a lie and call it "women's healthcare".
The Bronze Age, Comstock Act, etc shouldn't have any influence on our modern world.
From the SE Portico of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial:
"I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as a civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."
According to the Comstock Act,it would be illegal for anyone's insurance company to send a woman her birth control through the mail, fedx,or ups. Most insurance providers want you to use their mail in service.
I agree that was the days of mail delivered by horse to the nearest town.that you had to ride to for hours or days..and no pioneer women were waiting for magic pills to take care of not having another child to go with the 10 they already have..1880's law has no place in modern 21st century cases..local or federal

I have to wonder how much of the reason this law suit was brought has to do with these doctors losing patients because of their refusal to provide this medication. If they can just make it so their competition can't prescribe it either, then their patients wouldn't have a better option available to them.
