I swear Rob made Rowan the rules lawyer as a way to make him learn the actual rules for their real campaign 😂😂😂
...and it didn't he.... Nope, not spoiling 🤣
He didn't learn the rules though, he learned some words in a script that he forgot the second the episode was filmed 😅 he should have been the furbolg to be lore accurate
You asked how many identical brothers we were on at 27:30. It was actually TEN by that point!
Fargrim and Targrim appear in BACKSTORIES.
Pargrim appears in RULES LAWYER.
Wargrim appears in LONG REST.
Margrim appears in NOT MY TURN.
Vargrim is mentioned, and Bargrim appears in 1 HP.
Yargrim is mentioned, and Zlargrim and Ptargrim appear in TEAMWORK.
As a longtime D&D player, I absolutely loved this series. So much of it actually happens in the games.
Rob actually wrote and directed this series for Viva. There are ... not official, but heavily implied plans to do another season of it now that the studio tavern’s up and running (everybody’s assuming maybe next year sometime).
maybe they will make one episode on mysterious dolls chasing you and how you should better not touch those... 🤣 my hopes are up 🤣
@@DragonsAreHungry I mean Rob has said he’s got like eight seasons’ worth of episodes at least partway written already, so I suspect there’s definitely something along those lines in there somewhere lol
The first ep of season 2 is gonna drop todaay wahooooo 🎉🎉🎉
Another bunch to react to would be Deerstalker Pictures, lots of great D&D parodies
30:30 "It was this sessio--Ah forget it ! Roll initiative!!" Hahahahaha.. I felt that!
There are rules lawyers and rule judges. Judges want the rules to be followed to prevent any form of unfairness, lawyers want to manipulate and twist rules to their advantage.
character with the blue skin and head stripes is a goliath, same race as Bodger's mother :)
The 'rules lawyer' sketch is the reason why when I opened my dungeon master guide back in the day and the first sentence is 'This is a guide book, your adventures are your own to create and rules to set' I then closed the book and used my own home rules system.
You asked about the campaign at the end, they advertised for "Adventures in Azerim" which is what you have been watching and reacting to, but they actually did another short campaign before that called "Decent Into Avernus" with 9 episodes.
Loved your reaction to this video as well! 😊
Haha yes! I realized it after really reading it and letting it sink in ;) Maybe we should hit up the other campaign as a bonus? Hahaha Oh the extra time I need in life to be with all of you!
@@DG360 that would be amazing, would not mind at all to rewatch it, and it's a great campaign! It's worth watching!
@@DG360 There was also another short-ish adventure (about 4 or five sessions of between 2 and 4 hours each) set in Azerim but using different characters, which they did as an online game during lockdown. This can be found as the Isolation Games. They were apparently not very happy with the quality of the output but it was still quite fun.
To be fair - the rules about not beeing able to cast two leveled spells in a single turn is quite important
Don't be that guy who tries to cast 2 spells the same turn.
Don't cheat!
Its amazing to me how many people HAVENT seen all of their videos. They have done such amazing work. I have a full playlist of their D&D sessions. I want to make playlists of all their other stuff as well.
I'm going to watch em all... Like Pokemon my dude. I've got extensive playlists starting to follow along on our journey. Join us.
The barbarian is a goliath. There's character notes etc. about each of them available to read.
Thank you Lord!
So, if I remember correctly, he started out as Targrim and every time he died he changed the first letter. In the skit where he dies to a mimic his name is (S)(L)argrim. So he’s on his second set of letters for his name. Who knows how many times he died.
I think you'd like the dark souls logic one they did. Two seasons so far and it stars Ben at the forefront as a new dark souls player.
Rowan was wrong about cure wounds, you can totally cast a spell as an action and a cantrip as a bonus action. Thevrule he quoted appiles specifically to casting a *levelled* spell as a bonus action
If you haven’t seen it yet you should check out the isolation games campaign. It’s shorter than the current campaign that they are on right now. It’s actually really good.
29:39 that vacant stare is amazing :D
There is a "D&D Logic Teaser" that is not on the supercut, where they discuss their schedules, you should check that one out too just for the giggles 😀
Also, how did you enjoy this "rules lawyer" role of Rowan after seeing him in NPC DnD campaign? Where Bodger hardly remembers anything? 😀😀😀
Also Nr. 2, Ptalgrim and all his identical brothers were played by Byron - he plays the delivery / health&safety guy in Bored (don´t know if you already saw him in some episode or not yet).
Also Nr. 3, yes, the Firbolg Crunch was Ben and the rogue Lavinia was Phoenix, who played Willow in Baelins route.
And, if you remember "The pain of being a Raid boss" skit (where Rowan plays the raid boss and they come over and over again to kill him), the end scenes of this were filmed in the same church as that skit...which is not important for anything, just a little interesting trivia...
(Omg, I´ve become an annoying Viva nerd, haven´t I? And it only took a year...I am doomed 😅 Please send help!)
Oh and maybe a bit of foreshadowing BTS info, just because I know you love DnD. The guys said they would like to do one-shots with them DMing, like one session with Adam being the DM, one with Alan, one with Rowan and one with Ben... I honestly think they would do great as DMs, and them having Rob as a player could get interesting ... 😆
The reason I don't like 4th and 5th edition is everyone heals up like they are Deadpool wolverine or the hulk . Humans don't heal up from wounds in 8 hrs or even 90 days but they can in the new editions . Wizards of the cost has no idea what race or specie is
@@unholywarrior9007 how was the healing in previous editions? I basically got introduced to DnD through Rob and Viva...
@DragonsAreHungry well in ad&d I was you naturally heal 1 hit point a day 2 a day if you rested 3 or 4 if a medic was tending to you. 3erd edition 1 hit point a day per level . So level 1 hero 1 hit point 20 eth level hero 20 hitpoints . Now if you found a ring of regeneration you healed your hitpoints per hr . And could regrow linbs that were cut off but acid fire might slow that a bit . Made you like unto a troll . Now I know some will say not all hitpoints lost are physical damage . But a gun shot or sword cut takes more then a short or long rest . And tv you see people walking around gun gut shot in a day . Now if your boxing and your cheek gets a cut that might looked healed in 2 weeks but it's not fully healed for 90 days . It could re break open cost you a fight to the ref doctor calling it even though you want to keep fighting . But 4th and 5th are like rhe video you rest for 1 hr spend some dice to heal all up . Or just rest 8 hrs all better
@@unholywarrior9007 thanks for the explanation! That felt more realistic indeed, but I can see how it could feel too much for the players 🤔 Also, in a fantasy game setting with elves and furbolgs and cursed swords I guess some said also it's too realistic? Not saying it was bad or anything, obviously "wasn't there, can't judge" (and I'm not), just thinking aloud now... 🙂
Fun Fact if no one mention it yet. The barbarian the goliath who is always breaking the rules and saying how dumb this world works is deliberate. It is extra level of meta joke that he thinks everyone else is dumb for following these dumb world rules. When its suppose to be a wink at the player who is playing barbarian that doesn't actually know DnD rules. Its also suppose to represent that as a Barbarian he has the lowest intelligence so it makes sense he wouldn't understand how rules would work.
Viva la dirt league have so much good stuff
If you like this DG, you’d love “The Gamers: Dorkneas Rising” 😂😂😂😂
If she mend a knot, she makes a circle?
D&D Logic season 2 trailer : th-cam.com/video/V71d1rDpor8/w-d-xo.html
Watched it today on the Morning Show. Awesome! Can't Wait!!!
Poor wizard didn't have detect life?
What is up with Scottish dwarf respawns in d&d?
Yep Several different campaigns
Ok, now I could swear there were nods to The Gamers series by Dead Gentlemen/Zombie Orpheus in this. Have you ever watched them?
No. Sounds interesting!
28:50 oh okay, I thought he was a Goliath.
He is.
That rogue is thicc
What exactly is Ben supposed to BE?! I can recognize the others but Ben?
The chest was a Mimic.. Come on DG.. you know this man. are you high?? im not judging.. IM HIGH.. but if you were too, that would explain A LOT of things.. hahaha.. do you dabble in the dark arts my friend?
Lol. Dude... It's so hard to actually stream at my age. I'm a terrible multi tasker. There a TON happening behind the scenes. Ask PePe! ;)
Okay, who is PePe?
Part of my crew :) He's my right hand man. If you hit the morning show you can see him. He's always getting fired by me. BUT, I keep him around because he's a musical genius and artist!!
I believe VLDL has done 4 DnD campaigns. One of them was never film as a test run. They then did campaign descent into something which has no green screen and Britt is there instead of Ben. Its only 1 table session long. They started their main DnD watching now after that but covid happen. So they did another online by computers remotely that was 10 hours long with original characters. Most of their characters from computer campaign do make a special appearance and reference in the main DnD campaign. And just yesterday they started a 1 table session of their Tech store employee doing a Rob's own creation mostly just improvising but is really great if you followed the Tech store series. Finally they are planning an all girls campaign in the future as separate game probably having Britt, Elle and 2 others that would be more related to this DnD supercut logic but still in the same universe.
The best way to deal with rules lawyer is not inviting them anymore and have a fun time with everyone else. 🐼👍🏼
