It's hard to say whether investor or business manager visa through self-employment (eventually leading towards permanent residency) would be difficult or not since immigration bureau has the final say. I understand that this route don't just require a lot of money and intense business planning, but you need to also prove how successful the business can be (presenting contracts with Japanese clients, being able to support your Japanese staff, etc.). Perhaps for this reason, it would be best to consult with an immigration lawyer who can best advise you with their expertise. Good luck on your application!
