21:01 Ben 10 remains a huge inspiration for me, and as an artist really going through it, hearing Dave's story is pretty moving. I'm so grateful to the creators before me who kept fighting their way through to bring us beautiful things
@@inkpulpremember when he got all up into himself to openly criticized other covers artists to try to call them out on their “bad covers” and call out on their work? i do. the worst part is when he became a reverend to hyperextend his hypocrisy: see catholic church. please note that this is an opinion on the artist/man, i do not know him from Adam, however…i’m hoping thingss have changed w/ time #hubris
@@Hobo613 I do remember. I enjoyed that tho. Dave has such a deep well of knowledge, and giving critiques to mediocre work taught me a lot. I think it challenged everyone in the industry to do better, and i see that as a plus. A lot of The work these days suffers from mediocrity. No one wants any critical feedback. But when i was a teacher, i learned that the critique is the best teaching/ learning tool around. No one should feel they are above it. And a lot of current creators dont want to be challenged. I know Dave's tone can be a bit off, but his well of knowledge is very deep. He's changed what the comic book cover is and what it can be. I respect him highly and learned so much from him.
lol, i live in Los Angeles too, near downtown. I had the Citizen app Dave mentioned and I had to uninstall it becasue it went off constantly day and night.
Italy, along with 98% of water sources in Europe, doesn't flouridate its water and Matteos teeth look fine 😆 maybe its not crazy to question if it's a necessary endeavor
25:20 face blindness it's interesting... I've gotten "no, it's obviously a face, but it's not a specific face"... I can't imagine having a group book that doesn't have lots of props to tell characters apart, and you have to rely on facial anatomy.
