Probably because your Sony TV is one of the older ones like mine. I bought a bluetooth adapter and my Sony headphones now pair with the adapter which is plugged into the audio output of the old TV. Good luck!
Headphones can't pair with a Bravia 800E. Agree with the others, this is an unconscionable oversight. Such a basic, obvious, easy thing that any TV should be able to do, yet this high(er) end Sony Bravia can't. This is basic utility 101. I'm seriously questioning my loyalty to Sony...
Jason % you are right. I bought an 800E which is Bluetooth ready but NOT Bluetooth capable. I returned my tv and upgraded to a 900E. I can pair it to my “Sony” headphones and Bluetooth speakers. Had it connected to 3 speakers different brands but the sound quality is awful. It used to work but stopped after two days. Now it sounds like it’s underwater. Don’t see anywhere to make adjustments. It’s the TVs side that’s rotten.

Go to where-ever your bluetooth is on your Sony TV in the settings and it should be displayed and then click your remote to connect. My TV is: KD75XH8096BU and wouldn't connect to BOSE Wireless Headphones and now does.

Sony told me my Bravia XBR-55X800H will not pair with any headset after i repeated failed to pair the Sony WH1000XM4. I bought a tv with blue tooth and didn't expect I would have to read the very fine print that it doesn't pair with ANY headsets. I have a Sony Bravia TV (KD-49XG8096) and when I go on to Bluetooth settings to try and pair my sound bar (which is also Sony) (Sony HT-S350) it doesn’t find it. So I’ve connected it via ARC HDMI cable and the sound goes up in 2s. VERY annoying. I can connect to the soundbar with my laptop, phone, tablet via Bluetooth no issues but can’t with the TV. Well first off, you could have a simpler username so I could tag you so you would actually SEE this response. Secondly, you could just be grateful that Sony has quite high end built in speakers. (Much better than typical tv built in speakers. Or thirdly, you could just buy a tv from a company OTHER than Sony. (Don t buy samsung tho, it is literally the worst brand on the market...)

You make a lot customers disappointed. You will lose many customers with this type of products not working. And you haven't replied to any of the comments.

I find Sony Bravia the most useless tv connectivity-wise (Bluetooth , usb etc...) . I discourage anyone to buy one. I have cheaper (and older) Samsung and LG tv's who connect straight away to anything you throw at them... However, like somebody suggests, you can install a 'bluetooth pair connector' app on the tv, or similarly named, and that will do tha job. I was eventually able to connect the headphones
Bought a Samsung Q60R soundbar and couldn't pair it with my Sony Android TV (KD-55X7000D) I had to use HDMI. Such basic features and they couldn't do it. This is like Apple ecosystem, you have to buy the same brand to use the features smoothly. My family has been a loyal Sony TV user since 90s. I regretted buying Sony. 🤦🏻♀️

Sony broke the ability to pair to any Bluetooth device with the last firmware update, they need to fix this asap, I have a XBR55X850c and the tv can't be found by any bluetooth device, and when you tell the TV to search it will loop for ever without finding anything.
