By the way, in Bavaria you are allowed to bring your own food to any beer-garden as long as you buy a beer from them. An old law that goes way back to mad King Ludwig's times :)

Flora & The Novice Explorers haha we’ve done that a couple of times. The worst was when we popped by an out of budget campsite that we really loved and we blew like 2 weeks budgets just staying there a couple more nights 🙈 these things happen.
Have totally loved this Netherlands and Germany series - places I haven't been with the van before and could now foresee a tour into Eastern Europe along these lines. Thanks Cal & Meg, as funny as ever, beautifully shot and edited. Off myself after Christmas, heading Spain & Portugal - maybe see you out there!
We’ve loved travelling through Germany, it was great! And personally I think the best is yet to come in the third and final part. Füssen has been one of our highlights! Oh nice, yes you may see us! Currently on Spain but will be crossing into Portugal for New Years, no rigid plans but hopefully will be around :)

Nördlingen is indeed built inside an old meteorite crater but I think you misjudged the size of it. I am thinking of the Nördlinger Ries, which is about 24km (15 miles) in diameter, which is a bit bigger than the perimeter you outlined. Both Dinkelsbühl and Nördlingen are wonderful cities with a lot fewer tourists than Rothenburg odT.
