Thank you, that was a very good teaching videeo. I especially found the explantion of where to apply the haul in the casting stroke very helpful to keep in mind. May I ask you what rod and the line wieght you used for this demonstration. My guess is it's a Sage 5 wieght.
Hi Ed, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It was a few years ago so I think it was probably a Sage Z-Axis. Today is would be a Sage "X". I like a fairly fast rod for double haul because when you need to use that technique, you're usually throwing big flies, dealing with wind, or requiring distance and a faster rod will help keep the line in the air and maintain line speed. The line might have been a RIO Rio Grande WF5, today it might be that same line or a RIO Perception and either line would have been cleaned and conditioned with Russ Peak Line Cleaner which puts a slippery coating on the line and helps it perform well. The video was done a few years ago. I've always used Sage rods and at that time it might have been an XP. Today it would be an Igniter. I like a faster rod to help with line speed and a strong rod to help with keeping the line in the air.

What kind of line would you use to learn on
For simply distance I would use a RIO Outbound Short. If presentation is also a criteria I would use a RIO WF Perception Elite. Thanks for asking.
