  • i have finally got my hands on a 18v Track/Rail Saw for so long I've been dependent on mains power on site due to my DeWalt rail saw and as i refused to pay so much for the Flex powered Rail saw but now it has arrived this is a big moment for me it will change the working day, lets just hope it can live up to it.

    As always David another great video. The much lower price is good here and for site work excellent but how does it do with saw dust. I have the festool 55 it's an amazing saw but scary price. I have all festool rails David so for me to change over would in the end be more costly but this idea of a dewalt battery saw is clever.

    • @dmgladden
      @dmgladden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Louies yes it all sounds good and for a good few months with constant hard work it was until things stopped being so good and now I do still use it but when the finish has got to be perfect out comes the 230v track saw this one just can not get there but for general work also with the track its good just not for best

      @@dmgladden yes that's wise words, I was impressed and thought for a little while David has cracked it and costly rail saws will be a thing of the past but sadly not so mate, I do love my rail saw but crazy nuts price, I am trying to convince myself of the need for the 2700 festool rail but again the process is daft! In the end David the finish and fit are what dictate and although I feel uncomfortable with my machinery costs they do offer a class finish, anyways pal stay well, Louie, Northern Ireland Uk

      from my experience with trying like 5 dif track saws this past year (including the DCS572 which was my first "track" saw) I would avoid the dcs572. the dust collection is equivalent to every other circ saw (crap) and doesn't come close to the FS55 with it... nor does the power, when you're at 100% battery @ 5ah the cuts are great and are about 95% close to a "real" track saw; but get down to 50% battery, which of course doesn't take long, and you start to see a sharp dropoff in torque. 25% battery and you won't be able to cut 9mm ply without it taking 20 minutes a sheet.
      the power issues I imagine are solved with the flexvolt variant, but it's about the same price as the festool HKC 55 EB from what I remember... however it will have far inferior chip collection, just like the dcs572.

    Just a shame its not got a similar depth guage like the Festool.
    We use our track saw for re-lining sliding sash window reveals on site and its brilliant but the power cord is a P.I.T.A.
    Thanks for the review and I will be interested to hear your thoughts after using the tool on site.

    • @dmgladden
      @dmgladden  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Phild my corded one has depth stop as with the Festool its the battery one that's not got one and that's because its not meant to be a plunge saw but that's what it needs when on the track.

      Dewalt makes a cordless plunger saw....this is just a run of the mill cordless saw which can be used on track.

    A related question: I have the DeWalt DWE576K which looks like the corded version of this DCS572, with the same track as in your video. I have tuned the saw to the track for 90 degree cuts. Now I wanted to use the other side of the track for 45 degree cuts and went about tuning this. However when riding the track with the correct machine slot in 45 degree position, the saw blade is still several milimeters out from touching the splinter guard. Using the slot intended for 90 degree cuts would result in the saw biting into the track. I'm confused, the manual says it should be possible to tune the track for 45 degrees, but in practice this does not seem possible. If you (or anyone) know(s) how to go about solving this I'd much appreciate the help. Maybe you could demonstrate on the setup in above video? Kind regards, Eric

      as for Franco, the track you need is the "DWS5021" for a 1m track... I'll post the others below:
      1.5m = DWS5022

      1.5m = DWS5022
      1.6m = DWS5023
      all dewalt of course. I made the mistake and took the chance on a makita track, it's too large and the knobs to adjust the saw base plate aren't big enough for the makita's rail, so it wobbles... dont bother with it. same with festool one.
      the dewalt guide rails are overpriced AF imho, like £30-60 more than the makita counterparts, and aren't as good! they wobble like crazy without clamps. I'd buy the makita tape to put on the dewalt track if you get one. the tape is excellent!!!!
