I like the direction Backfire is going with this board. Too many companies playing the specs game recently, trying to push higher speed/range. I’ve been excited to see the board in action, Thanks for the review Scott!
I have a couple of surfskates and a couple of electric boards and I'm super excited to see how the manufacturers develop the electric surfskate idea. This board is so very tempting but compared to a traditional surfskate I feel it's missing a slightly bigger kicktail which gives you the power from the back foot when carving. Appreciate you don't need to create power from carving as the motors do that for you but it's all part of the surfskate feeling getting down low in the turns and pushing out with the back foot to feel that speed build. Also gettng those slides and kickback turns needs a decent kick tail. I am stoked that Backfire have started this movement off and I can't wait see what the other guys come up with and how Backfire build on this one. Awesome work with the video as usual Scott, we know the future of Eskate reviews is in good hands with Zoe!
This is an important board. ESK8 has two advantages over all other PEVs.They can carve and are lightweight. This board checks off both boxes. I think electric surf skate is going to become a larger category of ESK8 in the near future.
Totally agree I had an “idea” for an invention a surf truck that you can “lock out” and make it behave like a RKP, then when you want “unlock” and you have a surf skate again
@@scottdaviesyoutube im pretty sure that exists im sure ive seen in somewhere just cant remember what its called , although my waterborne surfskate adapter on the meepo shuffle 4 pretty much behaves like rkp when u going at speed and is super carvey when your slow
Videos like this are a testament to the importance of small electric skateboards; I'd have loved a lightweight electric skateboard like this as a young skater! Can't wait to see the next generation of these smaller hub motors, especially when they've more hill climbing power at 20-24mph
oh i also gotta comment that your filming this video was next level! You really got a videographer there! Keep practicing and capturing content your going to be the best there is with time!
Wow great video, love to see your daughter implemented into your videos. As always super nice review, I got all the answers I was hoping for so pretty sure I am ordering one for my kid. Looking forward to your next videos…
Hey Scott, great review. I actually just ordered one even though I won’t be able to ride it for over six months because I completely destroyed my arm one wheeling and have it in a metal fixture right now so probably not Eskate con either.
This is awesome because I just got into surfskating last year and to me it's just as fun as eskating. Definitely going to consider getting one. Really good price point.
Hi Scott thanks for the review .looks perfect for what i need apart from maybe the kicktail . I have one ordered but a little worried about the kicktail size. Is the kicktail usable to flick the nose up to get up small curbs , over cracks in pavement quick direction change for obstacles ?
Regarding Battery Specs, in Drew Ella's review it seems that they're already added the written Battery Specs under the Deck. So now it's not an issue to go to a plane with the board
This would be a perfect board for my kids to get to/from school! Went to the backfire website, sale is still on but total cost including delivery to Perth is $584. Donk know if i can justify that price but it looks super fun! Once the sale ends cost will be about $960 delivered. Ouch! what do you all think?
Kwan mentioned rolling resistance, but you were able to surf on it. How’s the rolling resistance on this thing? Like if you blindfolded a skater, would they feel a difference if they tried to kick push the skateboard?
There are a couple other electric surfskates out there. Nalu appears to be the most powerful of the bunch as well as the lightest. I have an AE Wanderer. AE Boards makes a couple other surfskate setups as well. They're cheap Chinese boards running Chinese clone trucks.
I Wish they werre more clear on if you got the pre order or not for 299$ I was all hyped up but then they say im not in the initial pre order and the price went up 50$ on launch day and now i feel a bit bitter.
@@scottdaviesyoutube ok bro i could not resist and picked it up anyways. I love surfskate and i can put my daughters on that without worrying they will end up at 30mph
Hey Scott. This board seems like a good option for my son to use at college. Lightweight, maneuverable, somewhat waterproof, no belts to replace, etc. Would you agree? Also, is it powerful enough to get him up some hills? Thanks!
Backfire Remotes Are Built Alil Cheap it's better to replace the lil plastic piece holding the Throttle Spring in place by Borrowing a hole on the top of remote where Plastic Piece Would be Replace it Wit A Small Screw so If U Drop remote Or Fall ," Tha Remote Wont Instantly break Tha Throttle on Remote..🙏🏽💯
This is great, but why aren’t there any “normal” stealth boards anymore? Imagine just a fun cruiser board with big wheels, which looks that slick? Or a proper Longboard with a build like this where you can’t see that it’s an e-board? There’s a huge market-niche for something like that in Europe, where they’re still illegal and many people would appreciate having something stealthy.
@@scottdaviesyoutube unfortunately... there’s definitely a market for those boards in Europe especially. I’m tempted to get this board just because it’s so stealth - even though I’m not a big fan of surfskates for commuting or running errands. If Backfire were to make a board like this, but normal longboard shape and big wheels, I wouldn’t even care how much it costs.
Can you just have the lights off? Also, wish they'd put a bit more of a tail on it. You'd be about to Ollie, kickflip this thing if they had😢 It's only 5.5ish kg.
