How To Date For A Counselor // Damaged But Not Destroyed (Part 7) // Michael Todd & Panel

  • What does the Bible say about counseling? In Week 7 of the Damaged but Not Destroyed, Pastor Mike sat down with part of his community counsel to help us remove the scare from counseling and remind us that it is SAFE. This dynamic panel walked us through the scriptures, taught us about the different types of counsel, and shared their experience with licensed therapy. Counseling is not just to get rid of trauma but it allows you to uncover your God-given treasure. Pastor Mike leaves us with a call to action to attend at least 3 counseling sessions by the end of April 2024. Will you accept the challenge to go from trauma to triumph?

My husband was abused physically and had cancer as a child, when i met him he stuttered so bad he could barely state his name. Today he speaks clearly, is cancer free, and a great father to both our children. The victory belongs to Jesus!!❤❤❤HES ALL I NEED!!!✝✝✝✝✝✝🙏🙏🙏

My 13 year old sister has cancer, and Sunday I had gotten a call from my parents asking to gather all of my siblings to come and say our goodbyes… We prayed, we asked for a miracle, and here we are 5 days later and my sister has made a MIRACULOUS recovery and doctors are in AWE!

I am a 16 year old girl in South Africa, one day I listened to Hands in It by Evan and Eris and I heard a message that you preached in 2020 “ Trading Faith “ and since then I have been listening to your sermons on Spotify and so I thought to grasp the whole concept I should start from the beginning and since that decision I have been realising a lot of things especially after I listened to Baby Faith and I declare today that I will come to your church. I don’t know how or when but I have faith in God that I will and I know a lot of people will think I’m being unrealistic because I don’t even have 5 South African Rands to my name today but at the same time I don’t want to be caught up in how but the who, I quote. Thank You Jesus for giving me courage to write this message 🙏🏽

Lord Jesus hear my prayers. Prayers are all I need. I’m losing hope but God restores my faith. These past three years have been difficult. At times I feel so alone especially as a single mom. Since suffering a heart attack two years ago and my on going battle with lupus I’m overwhelmed. Both of my sons are autistic. I’m now homeschooling them so my hours to work are limited. BUT I TRUST YOU LORD! I keep faith even as I constantly struggle to provide for my kids and I constantly struggle to buy groceries. I receive hate for sharing my testimony. My testimony is one of faith. No matter what we are facing God will give us strength to over come. Thankfully I have you Lord! I know I’m not alone. Faith over fear!

I always did counseling, after realizing that I was the only one with Sickle Cell Disease (out of 6 siblings) and finding out that my dad was not my biological dad. Still go and I am 62 years old now. But it is not only counseling that I need, I need to be delivered. Now I am in deliverance classes and sessions....it is amazing. I had a strong cut you off game-people would be considered dead to me even though they were alive.
I would be a fighter when my back was against the wall or felt provoked.
I became a people pleaser because I didn’t want others to feel that pain I felt.
I felt like I had to be the strong and supportive person in the family at a young age.
But God. I went through the 100% Change Program at church; I was delivered and liberated from a lot of this. I learned to trust God.

I didn't know that I was wrong. All because of how feel about counseling. She stop going after that. I didn't know it affected her that much. I went to talk to her & I apologize to her & told her that I was wrong for that... I'm a working progress God is still working on me. Now I need counseling... Oh wow... Please pray for me.

Family, perhaps the most consequential message that could shift the temperature for the much needed healing in our world. May this message become contagious to every church all over the world and lead to much needed transformation. We can't conquer what we do not confront!!! Thank you so much Pastor Mike, Pastor Natalie, your entire panel and leadership for your vulnerability. This kind of vulnerability takes immense courage. We are grateful. Father, please grant us the wisdom to hide these instructions and insights on the tablet of our heart. Grant us the wisdom to do the research and put in motion the counseling each of us need to heal and uncover the treasures that you've hidden in each one of us. Peace and delightful blessings to you all Family. 🤲🙏🙏🙏

I love you guys!! This was so healing and amazing to witness black people showing up for each other and the encouragement it gave me! I am a trainee and I just had an experience this week with a black client and I felt I needed to share that diverse counselors are out here because this little person needs the aupport😢 I am fortunate to have amazing supervisors and people who lift me up when I don’t feel competent but in this situation I realized later that my form of care came with all the thoughts about cultural aspects I am aware of and that that is the best I can do right now to give this family the slightest idea that counseling is safe and is important! Not to be dismissed especially as I’m seeing younger generations fall into suicidal ideation. ❤❤❤❤❤ Thankyou!! The Lord bless you for this holy work

I loved this conversation! I am going to head back into therapy myself as it helps me so much going through divorce. Combined with renewing my faith in God. Natalie has an avoidant attachment style, and it is truly a testiment for her to have been in therapy and taking accountability. I can tell now Pastor Mike is more anxiously attached. This is the dynamic in many relationships. To be healthy, the people really do need to understand themselves in that dynamic. God bless these folks for sharing their stories! 🙏🏾

Thank you Pastor Mike for this teaching. More churches need to teach the importance of this. At the end of the day most of us, are broken vessels with past traumas and come integrated marriage, parenting and even if we have Christ in our life at these stages we are still broken vessels that because of our upbringing that has never been addresssed. Thank you and God bless you for this teaching. My youngest is in therapy and been asking me to please seek help so we can have a healthier relationship as I’m sadly her only parent, Her dad isn’t in her life by his choice of choosing to disown her. Todays message helped me realize I need to seek counseling as I am struggling with past childhood trauma-hurt and my daughter really needs me to be not just her only parent but the better parent

This week's prayer title is Faithful Gentleness and Visions of Hope
We thank you for the gift of life, we are grateful for your grace and kindness. We are humbled by your love and compassion. May our hearts be filled with gratitude and our lips be filled with praises to your name. Father, we love You. We thank You for being our provider and protector. We thank You for Your unwavering love that will never fail us, for Your mercy and grace that will never run out, and for Your faithfulness that never wavers. We thank You for Your kindness and gentleness that never cease. We are grateful for the way You see us and hear us, and for Your promise to never leave us nor forsake us. Thank You, Father. We thank you Father God for the strong and loving marriages that You have blessed us with and for the children that we have been able to raise in Your Light. We thank You for the successful businesses that You have allowed us to run and for the ministries that have helped us spread Your Word. We thank You for the education systems that are providing excellent learning opportunities for our nation's youth. Father, we ask that you pour out your spirit of wisdom and understanding upon us, and help us to believe more deeply in your grace and mercy. We pray that you will anoint our marriages with love and devotion, our children with wisdom, and our education system with a spirit of excellence. We ask all of this in Jesus' name. Help us to focus on you and your word, that we may be transformed and live in holiness and righteousness. Guide us to walk in your ways, that we may lead lives of faith, hope and love. May the light of your Son Jesus shine upon us, that we may be a reflection of his goodness and grace. Father, we pray that You will fill us with Your grace and Your love, that You will purify our hearts and our minds, and that You will open our eyes and our hearts to Your truth and Your will. We have faith that You will hear our prayers and that You will pour out Your Spirit on every nation, every tongue, every tribe, and every heart. We believe in Your goodness and grace and that You will bring healing and restoration to our land. We thank You for Your faithfulness and mercy, and we ask these things in Jesus' name.Yahweh, we come before you with humble hearts, asking for your forgiveness for the sins we have knowingly and unknowingly committed. We pray for forgiveness for our mother and father bloodlines, our friends, and for every nation and land. We ask that you open the door of redemption so that we may be forgiven.
We are letting go of our defenses and insecurities, allowing ourselves to be open and vulnerable. We are allowing ourselves to accept love and connection, to create space for understanding and compassion. We are opening our hearts and making room for the beauty of life.Jesus, we welcome you with open arms. We invite you into our homes, marriages, hospital rooms, ministries, churches, businesses, jobs, careers, and education systems. You are the source of our inspiration and hope, and we are grateful for your presence in our lives. We pray for a supernatural shield of protection to cover every child, youth, son, daughter, the lost and the found, pastors, co pastors, bishops, prophets, every leader, and the education system across the nation. We plead the Blood of Jesus over them, believing that His Blood is powerful enough to cover them and keep them safe from harm. Lord we pray that You open the door of heaven and pour out blessing upon us. Restore hope to those who are hopeless. Bring healing and restoration to our land and our nation. Make a way for those who are seeking shelter and a roof over their head, and provide food for those who are hungry. Help us to be disciples and help those in need. Lord, we come before you humbly and with an open heart. We pray that you will breathe life and light into our dry bones, giving us the strength and courage to fulfill our visions and puposes. We say yes to doing your will and to helping, serving, and loving those in need. Help us to take the focus off of ourselves and to focus on those who are crying out and those who are silent. We are determined to break free from the chains of depression, anxiety, and any other mental health struggles. We will fight for freedom and peace, no longer allowing ourselves to be enslaved by our own minds. We will no longer allow fear and worry to control us, but instead find joy and happiness. We are here to declare our independence and freedom from mental health struggles. Holy Spirit, be our strength and comfort in times of sorrow and pain. Guide us to become more like You and less like ourselves, that we may share Your love and peace with those who are lost, hurting, and grieving. The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen 🙏🏾

I put my son into counseling when he was in first grade. His father had anger issues. And I didn't want my son dealing with his nor my generational curses.

You all are such a blessing! Thank you for allowing people to understand God's plan for us in such a way that the traditional church would never think to do or feel it's not "acceptable" church formation!

Brie was stunning, fun, and deep as usual. Abby was awesome. Loved the marshmallows 😂😂😂. And Pastor Charles was on fire. 🔥🔥🔥

My first time that I went to counseling was in high school & that's why this is so hard for me because the counselor went to her group session & told everyone ever think that I told her. That broke my heart & I never went back, I never trusted anyone anymore. That was so hard for me... 💔

    • @SacredSoulPractice
      @SacredSoulPractice 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I see you and I am so so sorry. God does desire for you to be healed. That was horrible. You didn’t deserve that. And that person was wrong. And you deserve to be free and get the support you need. Please take your power back from that situation and reclaim your power of “choice” you can choose to work through the betrayal of that and trust god will restore what was lost in that situation. I promise you God will, god can, and god wants to support you through this…allow it in. I promise you it’s worth it. Loving and praying for you. 🙏🏽🖤
