Simply AMAZING! I've had SW for quite some time now, but never found a great use for it. I guess that says more about me as a "musician" than anything else. Thanks a bunch man for the inspiration. I'll dive further into SW tonight thanks to your epic video! Love from Sweden!
Thanks a bunch! Good loopers aren't easy to come by, especially free or cheap ones. This one looks great, and does tape sound, too, which is awesomeness since I was born in 89, and I used to hear tapes, and crumble up paper to put in the holes to record over some of them via the radio. lol :3 Nice pad, too. Kontrol makes good stuff. I have 8 programs on my Akai MPC MK3 Mini, so I can set the 8 endless knobs for 64 knobs. Lol. No need for the controller, but, I have to count how many knobs, and switch programs. Lol. My computer is a touch screen, so I can manage that way, too. Shalom. :3
I never have any success midi mapping with Ableton, but I will definitely sit down and try again, as the XL has literally transformed SW into an instrument for real… such beautiful piece of music and interaction. Much thanks.
@@yukesmusic cheers YUKES, i have an XL as well, ill try and emulate your template, as i wouldn't have thought that, especially with the toggle buttons on T1-3 REC...if you have a link to the XL template that'll be GR8.. anyway much thanks for this superb overview, this should be PUREMAGNETIK'S official promo vid. Excellent.
Oh so true. Send them an email and you may get your wish! If you turn Travel to 0%, then you'll have a perfect loop. You could use three non-synchronized loops and build a polyrhythm like that.
amazing demo! I just bought a launch control xl bc of this video and love how well SW and the controller work together. the only thing I cannot map (except the rec button where I already wrote a mail to puremagnetik) is the track select on the three right buttons. I can only map one of the three and then it just switches from track3 to track “0”. how did you do it? thank u!
A really great and well sounding VST and super inexpensive too. And a great video, thank you! :) BUT unfortunately it takes a lot of CPU power. On my system with an i7 processor, where I have no problems with many effects at the same time, it reaches its upper limits as soon as the module is started. There should be an option to reduce the quality of the sound calculation inside the VST.
Cool MIDI mapping ! (and track btw), love this plugin and my LC xl too, One question, don't see the record ( and other square buttons) in Midi parameters, how do you assign them ?
@@NaySeven so I'm on windows; I emailed Puremagnetik and asked for the feature. They sent me an updated .csc file. In love with this, really inspiring and reminds me so much of Stil. one question; what is the plugin being used on there? it looks like an iPad of sorts - just a folded laptop or one with a removable keyboard/touchscreen use?

Don't have the Novation XL, but I do have an AKAI MIDIMIX...which seems to offer similar controls. Wanted to avoid this, as I spent a lot more on the 'Tapes.01' Kontakt instrument, but have issues using it. And now it's somewhat hard to reconcile spending just $8 on something that actually might be a lot more immediately useful. The only thing putting me off is the crackles/pops. Obviously, this instrument is not about getting pristine results. But I find these pops, so distinct from the rest of the sound, to be quite jarring. From your video, they seem quite unpredictable and disapear after a while. Have you managed to find a way to avoid them (Presuming you even want to), or at least found some rhyme or reason for how and when they're most likely to appear? Cheers :)
I've been trying to avoid the crackles. But to be honest, i couldn't find a way; it doesn't seem to be a CPU issue, just seems to be an issue in programming. I don't know enough about software to hone in on what it could be. For $8 it's worth a shot! Maybe you can find a way to minimize the crackles
@@yukesmusicPerhaps! I thought it might also have been a case of clicking until it can work out a suitable zero-point crossing, which would perhaps make sense for all the manipulations across the loop waveform. But that doesn't explain clicking when using filters, pitching etc. I might write to the developer. Cheers :)
@@yukesmusic Asked the developer about the clicking issue, and made reference to your video. He suggested it might’ve been a case of not having buffer set high enough. If you have the time, perhaps it'd be worth trying different settings (presuming you haven’t already).

Must have watched this about 5 times now. Great vid, music and example of what this great plugin can do 🤘🏻
So glad this got recommended to me. I keep forgetting about this plugin. Excellent tutorial 🤍
Enjoy it!

great demo. As far as I know the plugin was developed with Taylor Deupree
Magnificent piece - now I want to put my hands on it!
Did you get Small Winters? I highly recommend it. I love it, and most of the Puremagnetik plugins.
if this had a reverse option and polyrythmic mode it would be the complete must have

Should drop a link to those aftermarket knobs/sliders in the description 👀

Great music, performance and technical approach. I'm wondering if it's ok to work with Akai Midimix or Novation XL is better for this setup?
@@ЕвгенийБылина-м4ф either’s equally fine, use what you’ve got. I prefer the LaunchControl but if you’ve got the midimix just push on with that.

Do you need Ableton to use the novation with small winters or can it be controlled in any daw?
